Dudley is a good player, I loved watching him play at BC. He basically a young version of Battier. As much as I like Battier, He is our best trading piece. So I suggest drafting Dudley, because there is no point reaching for boom/bust PF or PG at our pick, when Dudley will likely contribute. His skill set is precisely what Battier brings, and he will likely be available at our pick. And then trade Battier for a PF.
Except that he has no 3-point shot to speak of, his on-the-ball defense will get him burned everytime down court a la Luther Head, nor the basketball IQ of Shane Battier. He might hustle as much, but he lacks the skills of Battier.
i think they are similar players, but even thought battier doesnt have great footspeed. Dudley wouldnt be able to handle half of the defensive responsibilities that battier can handle
Battier and Sura's expiring (to lower the Knicks' LTax hit) for David Lee and Jerome James (Deke's eventual replacement) and a swap of draft pick positions (21 & 26) works great for me, moves McGrady to SF where he belongs and opens up SG minutes for Wells.
He shot .443% from the 3pt. line this season at BC and his basketball I.Q is off the charts compared to anyone else in this draft. The kid is a highly skilled basketball player.
knicks would never do it. David Lee is the best rebounder they got, he's got a reasonable contract. THe knicks are so far over the cap, plus they're not going bankrupt, no reason to d ump salary like that.
Interesting. A non-Rockets fan doesn't value the equivalent of last years' #8 pick more than #30 from two seasons ago. Better hope all the intangibles stats guys don't show up and hammer you. Curious to know a Knicks fans' opinion of the same trade with either Channing Frye or Jared Jefferies?
