Anyone catch the postgame for the MNF game between the Cowboys and Saints? Bush had 4 carries for 7 yards and 2 receptions for 14 yards and the Saints were BLOWN out by Dallas. Yet, if you tuned into Sportscenter, you'd think Bush ran for 150, caught 10 passes and singlehandedly won the game. They literally dissected the only two decent plays by Bush and re-ran them a half dozen times. Good grief.
No freaking kidding. I missed most of the game (at work), then got in in time to watch the postgame show. Listening to them talk I thought dude would have at least 50 yards on 7 to 10 carries. The last thing the guy said was "7 yards on 4 carries". Good grief, indeed.
He made some spectacular cuts and showed the speed and burst that makes him special. Plus, it is a preseason game, what else is there to talk about? They just want people to tune in to sportscenter because people like to watch what Bush can do, it is all ratings. I watched the game, and Bush did not suck. He only touched the ball 6 times. The Saints however, do suck. Bush's number 25 jersey is now the #1 top selling jersey in the entire NFL. People want to see him, so ESPN shows him.
i thought bush actually had a pretty good game. dude is gonna be great and make a lot of defenders and bob mcnair look silly.
What did he do the other five carries? Do nice cuts matter if one averages 0.57 yards per carry? (Of course I know he'll be better than that.)
All the defenders think they are so bad azz when they stop him b/c of RB's high profile college background. I hope he does well.
Through 2 preseason games: Reggie Bush - 10 carries, 66 yards, 6.6 yards per carry, 0 TD's Vernand Morency - 11 carries, 95 yards, 8.6 yards per carry, 2 TD's
"And in case you just tuned in and missed them... YES, we will show the BUSH highlights again." TRANSLATION: "Do you want us to kiss BUSH's *ss even though he only finished with seven yards on four carries and 14 yards on two receptions? Sure. We don't care." Pinche ESPN.
Reggie Bush is like crack for SportsCenter producers. You can almost be guaranteed that he will crack an amazing move every game that will make it into the highlight reel. That's OK though ... Saints fans can enjoy ESPN butt-smooching coverage. We'll take our W's.
You go, ESPN. Polish that turd until it sprouts a goatee and turns into Mr. Clean. "Extrapolate those 4 carries to a manageable 58, and he would have easily cleared the century mark."
Problem is the saints have a piss poor O-line, even worse than the one the Texans called their offensive line last year. Bush wont be the back people want him to be until they get their act together.
I should say that I think the guy is amazing and that's fine with me. ESPN is just annoying. If I were the Cowboys fans, I'd be pissed, but then again, I don't really care how Cowboys fans feel.
I watched the game, and while I wasn't really paying that much attention to him, I wasn't really that impressed with Reggie. He did make some good cuts and has some nice speed, but as mentioned, that didn't really help him tonight (think our ~300LB DE even tackled him from behind on one play). I think he'll be a good (or even great) player, but he didn't really show it tonight (not that I'd expect him to do so consistently this early on, especially since I'm hoping the Dallas D plays well). Hyping up his performance tonight is pretty stupid IMO. ESPN should have noted his sub-par performance (if they were going to show him so much) and/or shown something else worthy of highlights (think the 3rd string NO RB had a few nice runs). Of course, the Tony Romo "hype" (not nearly as big as RB to be fair) annoys me as well (not to mention the TO stuff).
how many of yall have friends that are clones of the national media? this weekend when we were playing cards one of my friends who is knowledgeable about baseball but just recites the national media when he talks about football and basketball kept telling me how reggie bush has the chance to be the best football player ever. to make things worse no one at the table would say anything against that! it was just me against them and them ripping the texans for not taking the almighty god reggie bush. I wanted to slit my wrists and cut my ears off. it's so freaking maddening when people just accept reggie bush as god as if there has never been another player in the league like him. oh well all I can do is wait for the season to start.
It says Bush had 4 carries for 7 yards and his longest run was 9 yards, does that mean he had -2 yards on his other 3 carries? I love how they make Bush seem like a god but when talking about VY's 2nd game, we saw comments like "123 yards passing against 2nd and 3rd teamers" and "VY threw an interception but was erased by the officials."
Well, what the Texans fans should know is this. Dallas will have a top 3 defense in the league. I bet the Cowboys allow only 1-2 100 yd rush games (for a player) this season. We get a shot to shut down Reggie in Dec and I cant wait. Texans management had a brief moment of clarity in my mind picking Williams. I am pleased at how the cowboys have looked this preseason.
LOL! Nice points there about VY. Your full play-by-plays here included: R.Bush left end to NO 29 for -3 yards (A.Henry). R.Bush left guard to NO 33 for 2 yards (M.Spears). R.Bush right end to DAL 21 for 9 yards (B.James). R.Bush left end to DAL 22 for -1 yards (A.Henry). AND THE HIGHLIGHT! 11 AWESOME, CUT-FILLED yards! D.Brees pass short right to R.Bush to DAL 11 for 11 yards (G.Ellis). Screen pass right.
The Bush love is pathetic. It reached it's zenith when the announcers marveled about his speed and cutting ability on a 9 YARD RUN (the one they keep replaying on Sportscenter). Nice cut...yes...good speed...yes...BUT IT WAS FOR 9 YARDS. Crediting Bush for the 28 yard completion to the NO receiver because the corner bit on playaction, like that doesn't happen for a lot of decent backs in the league....pathetic. Dude had 7 yards.....SEVEN YARDS. I am watching these idiots now go on and on about how spectacular he is. At least do it after he does something in the game....
