I've taken hundreds of photos over the past year, a few of my favorites, I don't think I've posted too many of these before: China: Beijing Summer Palace Lanzhou, Hui woman Auytagh, Pamir mountains, Xinjiang province Kashgar Sunday Bazaar Kashgar market Great Wall near Jiayaguan Bingling Si, Gansu Province
India Glacier in Stok Park, Ladakh Fisherman, Kerala backwaters Street cricket in Pondicherry Golden Temple, Amritsar Street Painting Pondicherry Malaysia Sunrise on Mt. Kinabalu, Borneo More to come if bandwidth crash is averted.
FANTASTIC! I haven't traveled out of the country in a while (been mostly doing domestic travel, camping, backpacking type stuff the last few years) but am getting the urge. Great shots. If it isn't too painful, do add some commentary...specific locations at least. Also, what type of camera?
hey what size are the originals for: Auytagh, Pamir mountains, Xinjiang province and Glacier in Stok Park, Ladakh If you don't mind I'd like to use one of the two as my wallpaper
Kashgar is on the edge of Northwest China so they're more ethnically connected to the Kyrgyz and Kazakh populations to the west than the Han Chinese to the East. As a result, he doesn't like like he's chinese at all.
massive - they were on 7 mp setting, so it's like 2000 x 3000 or something. I'll upload both via yousendit if you want.
I would guess he probably has some ethniclally russian blood, as geeimso bored posted, the area is near the border of Kirgihizstan, Kazakshstan, Tajiskistan, Afghanistan, and China. But there has been Russian intervention/influence in the area for quite some time - to this day you occasionally see shops with Cyrilic writing in Urumqi and Kashgar.
Zip file of about 10 full size 7 meg mountain pics here. The first 5 are the Pamirs in far western China, the second 5 should be in Ladakh in NW India: http://s53.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1GACAXVNK7Z5E3M5WX3YRWAIME Let me know if any problems with the DL.
Nice work. I enjoy seeing pics of the locals. Sam, how many memory cards did you bring? How did you manage all the pics that you took? Did you bring your laptop?
About 2G's worth. Filled up most of it (took a few movies too) But the best way I managed it was very vigorous editing. Fortunately the DSCW7 has a BIG screen for a small camera so you can tell what pictures are keepers and which can be deleted. While I didn't want to miss any good shots, having to sort through 1000+ photos to sort through at the end of six months would have been kind of annoying. (ended up with over 600 plus 10-15 movies) My back up plan if I ran out of card space was to just burn the cards to CDs and mail them home (most tourist areas have a place that will do that for you). But it didn't come to that. Also I backed up my files on friends' hard drives in Bombay and Hong Kong when I passed through.
Nice pics, it's been forever since I've been to Asia. I am looking forward to scuba diving in the Red Sea this summer.
Great Pic Sam. Some of the highlishts are blown out, but from a PnS camera, those are great photos. Please post more.
