posey and harris along with the merciless will not start, though with the rotation he will get plenty of reps.
Agreed on KJ and Caldwell, but I do think James will start inside. He's very familiar with the scheme, having led Dallas in tackles for 4 consecutive years as a team captain under Phillips. His production tailed off with the emergence of Sean Lee, but he's much more reliable than Sharpton, and is solid against both the run and the pass. He racked up something like 13 or 14 picks during his time with Phillips. Who knows, maybe Sharpton will emerge, but I have to think that James has the inside track right now.
Sharpton is the starter and will be the starter...James is a backup and will not take over the starting spot from Sharpie. There is a slight chance Caldwell loses the job to Brooks, but I think thats two years from now, not this year. And KJ is going to start, unfortunately.
This. Sharpton and definitely Kareem will start IMO. I think Brooks will be a little too raw to start right away. I also think we'll pickup a veteran corner (similar to Jason Allen) and a somewhat proven WR after June 1st cuts that could be in the 2-deep (replacing Carmichael and Martin).
Agree with this, except Reed will start. Mercilus will have the Aldon Smith role. KJ will start also, with Harris rotated in like Allen last year. Oh yeah, and Schaub over Yates. Honestly believe Schaub is done as a Tedan
Smart phone spazzed and sent the post before I was done, but if Schaub's foot injury is serious enough, he is done here. Yates over Schaub.
any chance we can add drayton florence to our depth chart? http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7890208/buffalo-bills-release-cb-drayton-florence-business-business
Question. Aren't both Mercilus and Barwin "pass rush specialist"/"Jack" type OLB's? Both were 4-3 DE's converted to be 3-4 OLB's. Are we really comfortable having 1 of them dropping into coverage on a regular basis? We're not going to be rushing both OLB's on every play. I guess I didn't pay enough attention to Barwin. How often did he drop back into coverage? And Mercilus was exclusively a DE at Illinois, right? We don't really know what he can do in coverage yet.
So is Reed. After watching the Texans defense last year, I don't worry about OLBs in coverage as they mostly won't be. The OLBs don't drop back much.
What Joe Joe said. It obviously wasn't a problem last year. Wade doesn't like to make them worry about that, he just wants them to put their head down and go. I think the responsibility falls more on the inside LBs, and also this is the reason we have two virtually interchangeable safeties that can both cover.
