What's Wrong With Our Current System?

With 7 games in so far (3-4), the majority of our offense is basically 2 things..

    - Pick & Roll Overdose

    - Isolation plays for James Harden

Do they really have to utilize Jeremy Lin as a Derek Fisher? For the past four games, Lin is only averaging 8.5 field goal attempts per game and half of those are from beyond the 3 point line.

Is there something wrong with our system or is it because our roster is too inexperienced? I can live with the losses since it's inevitable given how young our team is but this is not the way you develop our players, IMO. Players are being misused.

Not enough talented scorers apart from harden and lin. No easy buckets from scola anymore in the paint

Lin being misused is the biggest problem because he's PG and directs the offense. We have Harden directing the offense at least 50% of the time and that's r****ded. He can create a lot but it doesn't mean he should be a playmaker early in the shot clock.

I don't mind Harden ISOs as much as I do that.

I really don't see any pick & roll overdose. Actually, I don't see any pick & roll at all. The high pick & roll works well with both Harden and Lin, but they never execute it. Coaching staff is clueless.

What I do see is a system premised on assuming that all players (minus Harden of course) having the same abilities. So we see the ball move from player to player. Each player makes a decision if they have a good shot or a shot towards the basket. If they don't, then they pass it to the next player, and eventually the ball moves to the other side of the court. The players kind of do a weave drill. The end result is a player is left 1-on-1 with a defender with seconds left on the shot clock. That's why we see Delfino driving to the rim as if he's Michael Jordan. That's why we see Parsons leading a fast break as if he's Isiah Thomas. Did I mention that the coaching staff is clueless?

we were all curious if lowry and dragic could play in the same backcourt. It's basically what is happening only that lin isn't a good a shooter right now as either of them and Harden turns it over more than two jeremy lins. =/

coaching staff should go back to what worked before harden and add the 'okc' plays a couple of times a quarter. If harden is talented, which we know he is, he will be able to score from anywhere.

Basically we have found out that there are worst offensive coaches then JVG had on the roster, even with more well rounded talent then JVG had.

Floor spacing, imo. Given the struggle for the 3 point shots before the Heat game, maybe the coaching staff feels there's a need for either the PG or the SG to spot up to provide the needed spacing so the penetrator have a lane to work with. I believe the team really needs a stretch 4 to maximize Harden's and Lin's skill set. Having Parson, who already shot 6 3s a game, is not enough.

the Rockets is a young team and its a young season, we're experiencing growing pains, simple as that, it would take time for them to learn their roles and grow as a team, just enjoy the ride batch 2012

We have no bigs with post games or offense that can create by themselves (aside from Harden). As a result we need a lot of PnR and ball movement.

The Rockets are currently ranked 21st on offense and 13th on defense. We score 96.7ppg and give up 96.3ppg. Honestly, given our talent, do you really expect more?

Well we have another guy that can create for himself but the rockets are using him like Ray Allen & making Harden look like Monta Ellis.

Let's see, for starters, for the coaches to arrogantly adjust the ah Lina dn Harden played after the first two games and completely screwed up their natural flow and instinctive chemistry together. Our backcourt went from "the next big thing" to laughing stock in the West. Coaching almost single handedly cost us two games when Matthews was allowed to shoot a 3 with us up by 3, not calling timeout to draw up a play against Portland... Going ISO harden to blow our lead against Miami and not having Asik in to grab the Wade missed FT. Can you see Popovich make boneheaded moves and non-moves like those? Don't think so.

You forget - it is McHale's system.

And, before you condemn what you do not understand, please remember all of the various fan mania's surrounding Morris. Do you really want to be on another one of those bow waves?
