Obama shamefully tried to have his "hero moment" and take advantage of the crisis that has killed many people and caused such heartbreaking loss in NYC. Mayor Bloomberg's response? Stay out, chump -- we're not the stage for your photo ops. Well done, Mayor.

    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/10/30/Bloomberg-to-Obama-Stay-Out-Things-To-Do

President Obama has been a busy bee the last two days, spending a huge swath of time with the press and in front of the cameras. Aside from using the White House website as his personal PR firm – putting out pictures of himself with the folks at FEMA and the Red Cross and in the White House situation room, and giving updates stating that he had “expressed his concern” and been informed “throughout the night” – Obama desperately wanted to visit New York City to let the photographers capture him overseeing the damage. He wanted his hero moment.

And Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York City doesn’t have time for that nonsense. He’s actually too busy being the mayor of a city in major crisis to squire Obama around for his election campaign.

Today, Bloomberg rejected Obama’s offer to visit the city. “We’d love to have him, but we’ve got lots of things to do,” said Bloomberg. It was “fine” for Obama to visit New Jersey, Bloomberg said. “People understand the storm and he doesn’t have to … he’s got a lot of things to do.”

The White House then followed suit by claiming that the arrangement was mutual, and that they agreed it “would not be the right time to visit New York City.” Sure.

Every time I read one of your posts I lose faith in humanity.

In other news Obama acted too quickly in mobilizing relief for super-storm Sandy.

Pretty sure you know this already, but that's exactly what Michael "you're doing a heck of a job, Brownie" Brown said.

    FIRST ARTICLE

    SECOND ARTICLE

NEW YORK (AP) — President Barack Obama will be getting a firsthand look at the damage done by the superstorm in New Jersey but not in New York City — and Mayor Michael Bloomberg is OK with that.

Bloomberg on Tuesday said he spoke to Obama and his chief of staff, Jack Lew, and told them the city would "love to have him, but we've got lots of things to do."

Bloomberg said that he wasn't trying to "dis" the president and that his trip to New Jersey on Wednesday would represent the whole region.

He also spoke highly of the relationship between federal and local officials. He said that on a conference call with the president and other mayors and governors of affected areas, everybody kept saying, "Thank you for the service."

"You know, there was a lot of criticism with (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) back in the (Hurricane) Katrina days, and today, you hear nothing but good things about FEMA, and they certainly have been very helpful to us," Bloomberg said.

The White House said the president and Lew spoke to Bloomberg to let him know the president planned to travel to New Jersey and to ask the mayor if he agreed with their assessment that Wednesday would not be the right time to visit the city.

The White House typically coordinates with local officials before traveling to a disaster zone to ensure it's not drawing away any law enforcement and emergency management assets being used in the disaster response.

Tuesday's storm killed 18 people in New York City, the mayor said. It knocked out power for hundreds of thousands more, plunging the city into darkness.

    POINT:

Read both. As a rational, level-headed, thinking person, what conclusion do you draw? Exactly.

    What a pathetic human being.

I'll leave it up to the readers to figure out who I'm talking about.

Here's a clue you dumb ****. Most of us New Yorkers can't even get to work. The president and mayor are doing what they need to do to make sure we all have want we need. Why don;t you think about being an American before you attack the president?

It reads to me like Bloomberg simply doesn't have the time or resources right now to allocated to Obama making a trip to NY. IE spare police, spare time, spare money etc. Its in NO WAY a Knock on Obama or a Knock on Bloomberg. Bloomberg just wants to deal with the aftermath right now. It certainly doesn't seem like he said "Stay Out". Sorry BigTexx..but thats an extreme overreaction to what was actually said.

What would the headlines be if Obama didn't offer help?

"Soul-less Obama cares more for campaign than disaster"

To the initial poster...out of touch right wing nut jobs like you are the reason you lost the last election and in all likelihood, will lose this one as well.

A lot of insults coming from the liberals in this thread. Of course I'll be the bigger man and not respond in kind...

Looks like Bloomberg's lack of respect shown to Obama really struck a nerve with you. The truth tends to do that.
