I admit I tend to have lapses in my memory and forgot the Rockets started in San Diego too. When I think of San Diego I think of the Chargers, Padres, and Threes Company.
I've become recently obsessed with trying to find more photos, videos, and information about the San Diego days. It's near impossible. Heck even trying to find out what their uniforms look like has been difficult for a number of reasons. A few online auctions have been helpful, but I've only been able to find 2 of their at least 4 styles of uniforms up close. I'm halfway finished with making an Elvin Hayes home San Diego jersey.
Three's Company was in the LA area, I believe. 00rocketgirl, You're a true Rockets nut. I thought sacrificing 2 weeks of vacation time to go watch Summer League basketball with the Rockets in Long Beach like I used to do was nuts! Props to all the Red Rowdies!
I own an entre set of original bubblegum cards from the first season in San Diego including rookie RICK ADELMAN.
nice! I see a bunch of Jack in the Box sponsored cards on eBay all of the time. I don't know if they were given out at the restaurant or at the game or what. Jack in the Box started in San Diego and their headquarters are still there. I've been wanting to make an Adelman SD Rockets jersey, and then have him autograph it. It's been impossible for me to find a picture of the back of his jersey. I want to make sure I get the letter font right. Other than head shots on his cards, this is the only in game photo I have found of him. He's on the floor. lol Spoiler Man, here I am derailing my own thread. anyways, thanks for the feedback everyone. If anyone is interested in future about sitting with us at a Spurs, Hornets, or Dallas road game or wherever, you can always PM me. I've been contacted by a user in the past asking to sit with us, as well as people, sometimes clutchfans members, just move to sit near us when we get to the games.
Wow rocketgirl is very attractive, nothing better then when a female is a huge rockets fan! Thanks for the recap!!!
thanks! I had quite a few Rockets and Spurs fans take pictures of it. and then these were my other 2 signs I've used before that I brought for other Rowdies to hold. oh and then there's this one...nothing special. haha. I made it on the back of the Ginobalding one in the 4th quarter. It's not one of my best, lol, but I had a point to get across at that time to the refs. I was told that one made in on FSN too. You're supposed to scribble on the unused side of the poster board to get past security, so you don't write inappropriate things on the other side, but I drew over those. video clips of the road trips are coming and maybe some more pictures.
This is a short video from the first night we went to the Vipers game in Austin. We were blowing them out most of the game which made the crowd deader than it already was. The second game that I didn't capture any video of was much more exciting as the Vipers were behind for most of it trying to regain the lead. There were more people at the second game we went to, but not by a large margin. I thought a video might be a good visual for y'all to see this D-league atmosphere. I've heard the RGV atmosphere is a lot better than this though. There is a better market in the RGV as they don't have an NBA or a college like UT so close. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/LE-ftxhLLCw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
