Watching him play D League along with the limited minutes in the NBA. In the NBA, it just looks like he is missing shots that he normally makes. He just isn't doing well right now what he normally does well. It might be the extra pressure, but I think it is just going to be an adjustment period. His problem is that he looks like an offense only player to me as he has a hard time contesting shots if guys penetrate.
Canaan is an interesting player. He has a certain fluidity in his game that I like, and has solid handles and a great shot. However, we need to give the benefit of the doubt to the incumbent Lin. Lin has a much stronger body of work AND is still a young player. If you're willing to take a shot with a rookie who isn't John Wall or Lebron James, the incumbent better be REALLY bad with no hope of getting better. Lin is hardly that. Give him time or we will end up regretting it.
It's called the NBA, which is a different universe than the (no) D League. He will most likely never play/shoot quite as well as he did in the D league overall. D is just too good most nights.
Canaan is physically and athletically inferior to Lin. Canaan is a short, physically weak point guard that cannot finish around the rim. Plus he may be long on D-League talent, but that is about it. 97% of D-League players will never make it in the NBA.
Yeaaaaaahhhhh. Lin may be slumping a bit but I would be legitimately scared if Cannan starts. The kid reminds me of Toney Douglas without the shooting. He plays like a rookie, meaning he does not have the poise you'd expect from a 4 year college player. I can't wait to get Bev back so we can go back to the PG rotation that got us to 50 wins.
I still want Patrick to start just off dunking over Chris Bosh alone. That dunk reminded me of the Steve Francis, Baron Davis era of basketball.
Lin has been in a shooting slump the last couple of games, but otherwise I think he is doing everything else well, defence, moving the ball, cutting down on TOs...what u guys think?
Parsons 41 min, 15 shots,4 AST, 16pts Harden 36 min, 10 shots, 7 AST, 26pts Lin 32 min, 14 shots, 2 AST, 16pts Parsons 35min, 16 shots, 3 AST, 20pts Harden 40min, 18 shots, 4 AST, 26pts Lin 39min, 18 shots, 2 AST, 16pts With increased minutes, Lin is taking MORE shots (while scoring less points), and getting FEWER teammates involved than both Harden and Parsons. He is becoming an inefficient ISO blackhole. In Bev's absence, he has become the Carmelo Anthony of the Houston Rockets. How ironic is that?
Your listed stats are wrong. Lin had 7 assists tonight, NOT 2. Lin 39 min, 18 shots, 7 assists, 16 points. http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400489991 IE, the data you used for your premise is faulty. Despite his being inefficient (16 points on 18 shots), his 7 assists more than made up for it in terms of team contribution. Might want to rethink your argument.
He'll just counter that Carmelo has nights too where he has a lot of assists and then continue to bash Lin.
Unfortunately some of the people here have already made up their minds. They would rather piss off "Lin fans" (who many in reality are just trolls pretending to be fans) rather than want what's best for the team. Good thing most of these fools are confined to this thread.
The pg position is very scary right now.... With the injuries that we have and with the personnel that we have.. I would put Harden at the pg and put Hamilton at the sg.. Bring Lin back off of the bench and also put Canaan in for some a spell or two... You can use Garcia and Cassippi as the backup sg, sf and even sf... Have to be creative at this point.. T_Man
