Has a player ever said "This is a special game and I'm extra motivated to play well against them" when playing a former team?

Maybe after the game has already been played, but before the standard quote always seems to be "Just another game".

He is attending Sasha's Memorial and playing against his former team who didn't think he was worth investing in for the long run.

Going to be an emotional ride for him.

Hahaha great stuff from Harden. You can bet he's fired up for tomorrow. He knows that if he doesn't have a good game then he will get a lot of grief over it from haters. Just like Lin would have if he'd stunk up the Knicks game.

But he has to be diplomatic. And it's the right attitude to have. There's no need to smack talk before the game, let your basketball do your talking for you on the court. Where it matters.

Exactly... Lin admitting tonight he was relieved after the Knicks game. Harden helped beat the bulls and the Knicks for Asik and Lin respectively... You know OKC will be gunning for harden, so I hope the team really buckle down and help get him a win against his old crew as well.

I'm still kind of in awe that we have Harden.

I love him as a player. His interviews are great as well. Just a super level headed, relaxed kind of bro.

 

Sure hope he doesn't play it too cool like Lowry.

 

I was waiting to see his facial reaction change when getting asked those questions but damn he kept a pretty damn straight face. But I know he's definitely going to have some emotions going into that game.

 

Okay Lin, you got yours, now it's your turn for that assist blowout on OKC.

 

I'm just getting tired of the OKC questions, as I know he is too..

So basically, we've beaten the Knicks in Lin's redemption game. We've beaten Lowry in his revenge game. Now it's OKC's turn. Unfortunately, I think I'll have to settle for 2 of 3 here.
