I seriously doubt that is even an option to Morey.

bacterial infections can get really serious and you can be out for a very long time. The bacteria will screw you up, then all the antibiotics will too.

Yeah thinking someone has Magic Johnson HIV because he missed a month of hoops is ridiculous .

Make the playoffs, be a fun team with a chance to scare someone in the first round. Miss the playoffs, get an extra pick in a deep draft. It's a win win.

...and then you realize David Stern is still commissioner. You lose.

But it seems that it might be meningitis which can be pretty serious.

How does it not? Like someone else mentioned, it's serious stuff, period. Doesn't matter if its an illness or injury, both can affect play, just look at what's happening to him now. What if they determine its something more serious? What if it's chronic? What if it's due to something he's constantly exposed to? What if it just takes along time to get over it? What if there is permanent damage somewhere in his body, which may affect his health or endurance? Nothing is certain right now. There's simply no way teams will ignore this.

Like donny mentioned, it'll drive up goran's price tag. It could end up being the worst case scenario for what was once our deepest, and best, position.

why does this always happen? The timetable for return goes from a week to a little longer and longer until they say out for the year. I swear the Rockets are cursed, I really hope he comes back with some time left in the regular season.

You're being silly. It's an abdominal bacterial infection. If the antibiotics get rid of it all, there are no future concerns any moreso than any other player faces.

Of course it's an option. Do you think a GM who has struggled for years to get a premier talent will just let the best player on his playoff team walk for nothing? If Goran keeps playing like this, Morey will go 110% to keep him.

I don't think bacterial meningitis is a gut problem.

But, I'm also not a doctor.

I kind of doubt that. I think he's fully vested in Kyle.

If Goran keeps playing like this, he'll go get his mega payday somewhere else and we'll be back in the market for a backup PG.

How many abdominal bacterial infections have you treated?

It's not uncommon at all for there to be one diagnosis and later another.

Sure, it may end up being a one time thing, but there's absolutely no way to know that. What's silly is saying teams will not be concerned about it happening again. You, and he, don't even know what caused it, so how can you be sure there's no future concern? How does he know what to avoid to keep it from happening again? If it happens again, even if it's completely treatable, the time it keeps him out is a big deal.

There's no way it doesn't affect his trade value and the effect will only be a negative one.

not sure what he has, they are too vague about it, But its his right to medical privacy. Regardless hope he doesnt try to rush back too quickly, because it will hurt us in the end and hurt his trade value

    Based on what?

Morey will pay the man and trade Lowry for a high level player if necessary. There was a rumor from Feigen we were willing to trade Lowry for Gasol at the deadline... my guess is that we wanted to but LA didn't want a sidelined Lowry, they wanted a healthy one for this year's playoff run.

That's stupid, and a false dichotomy which you just invented out of thin air.

I don't think it will affect his trade value, because nobody will be getting traded anytime soon. By the time trades start heating up, Kyle will have several months of clean health under his belt.

By the time the offseason rolls around teams will know whether it's a continuing problem. Again, you're being ridiculous. You don't think there is enough time to assess where Lowry is at in the many months to come before preseason?

If there is a potential positive in all this, it is that this could explain why Lowry went from playing at an all star level for the second half of last year and the start of this year and then dropped off. Perhaps after this is treated and he gets back into shape, he will be able to play at that higher level consistently again.

Based on the fact that he's young, not costing us a fortune, and has considerable cache built up as a very good starting pointguard.

Doubt it. Rumor, schmumor. We also heard "rumors" that LA wanting Kyle was a deal killer. So, that street goes both ways.

No need to be a dick. You're inventing stuff out of thin air as well, as you have full right to do, but I'm not going to call you stupid for it. Opinion vs. opinion. Yours (that Dragic playing better increases his likelihood of staying) is no more a "false dichotomy" than mine is. We'll see who is right when the time comes.

The draft is only 3 months away...that's the next time talks will heat up. He may not be officially cleared and healthy for another month.
