And if they want to give money to an organization that lobbies Congress and collects signatures to get referendums on the ballot with the aim of bringing racial segregation back to the good ole Christian USA, that's their choice too. That's freedom and that is fine. But it is not only okay to banish them from campuses or protest them in other ways (also freedom, also liberty), it is a moral imperative for anyone that believes in equal rights. If one is to believe that there is a God and that he created us all in his image and that he endowed us all with unalienable rights, he did create Adam and Steve as well as Adam and Eve and they deserve all the rights and all the happiness that anyone else does. Chik-Fil-A gives to bigots. People who are anti-bigot choose not to eat there and sometimes whole universities that are anti-bigot choose to ban them. That is their right. And good for them. All bigots would go to hell if there were one.
They are run by bigots. Their chicken nuggets are delicious. If I still ate fast food, I'd probably still patronize their establishments.
They're going against Christian values? You would think that would score them some points here in the D&D.
I'm not saying everyone is like this, but many extremist Christians tend to view homosexuality as a sin. I'm a strong advocate of the government and definitely the church staying away from what goes on in the bedroom.
Today, I had a number 4 with pepperjack, and a 12 pack of nuggets. I like to get buffalo, and dip my nugs in it, and I also like to dip my fries in it too along with my sandwich. christian values? I don't give a ****, it tastes good.
Colleges go through food vendors all the time for various reasons; don't see this as much of a story either way.
How do you justify buying gasoline, when much of the raw materials (crude oil) comes from Saudi Arabia? Are you aware of their position on gays? I would like a liberal to explain this one. If they do not, I'll assume they just don't like Christians.
The United States of America is a constitutional republic. Its constitution offers a variety of protections to individuals, notably equal protection under the law. A citizen of the United States may object to an entity's explicit attempt to subvert this basic legal concept and may respond by refusing to provide commercial engagement with said entity. I neither know nor particularly care what if any guarantees to individual liberty are offered by Saudi governing documents. I am not a Saudi citizen and as an individual I do not have nor expect nor deserve any influence with regard to its system of law. This is a very fundamental distinction, and I believe it would reveal itself most readily to most any middle school student. It is regrettable that the distinction must be made here, but happily I am a patient and generous sort of fellow.
since you brought it up twice, do you assume all liberals don't like christians? do the American oil companies support the same anti gay organizations as Chick fil A?
hmm Haven't had a chick-fil-A grilled sandwich in a while. Time to head out there and give them some of my money. hmmm.
Threads like these makes me think we enjoy and choose the politicians we elect yet constantly b**** about. People, companies, and colleges make decisions. You're free to complain about it or live with it. Just get off the ****ing high horse about why your decision is better after you've stated your opinion. Pretty sad when we're fired up by officials who can exploit that pettiness or knows how to chip away at a certain meme to drive in falsehoods as truth.
I'm a liberal. Maybe I can be of service. I despise bigotry and hate in all its forms and so of course I hate the way that all Muslim nations treat homosexuals. It is brutal and it is criminal. I believe that those that kill or brutalize homosexuals there deserve to die themselves and if I had the opportunity I would kill them myself. I look forward to the day that everyone has equal rights and everyone is free in the Middle East and everywhere else in the world as well. If I thought I could do anything to help in that, I surely would. I feel the same way about poverty, hunger and war. I would like to help put an end to those things too. But the problem is, not being Christ and all, I'm not perfect. So does my support of equal rights for gays mean I should give up any feasible means of transportation in protest? And, if I don't, do I give up the right to protest in any way any anti-gay efforts? If I drive a car, have I given up the right to call my congressman as well? If I am for equal rights for gays I have to stop using gasoline or it doesn't make sense to ever speak out against any form of bigotry? Does doing so make me a hypocrite? I hardly think that's fair but fine then; I'm a hypocrite. Aren't we all? And isn't it the seat of hypocrisy to be a sinner but to condemn others or deny them rights for doing something you believe to be sinful? And aren't all Christians sinners by the very definition of their Christianity? And so aren't those Christians that work to deny equal rights to people based on the idea that they are sinful just flat out bad Christians? Aren't they throwing stones they were explicitly instructed not to throw? Saying that liberals don't like Christians is nonsense. Christians are supposed to be liberals. The fundamental tenet of liberalism is that everyone should be treated fairly and equally and that we are responsible to one another. Those are ideals of which Christ, as we understand him, would have approved I think. I doubt he'd have been much of a fan of the Randian, keep-your-hands-off-my-stuff, the least among us are not my problem, war-making, bomb-happy ideas that characterize contemporary conservatism. All killing is anathema to Christianity. Yes, the church is anti-abortion, but it is also anti-war and anti-death penalty. I believe Jesus also said something about it being difficult for a rich man to get into Heaven so I'm not sure he was a hard core capitalist, free market kind of Lord. And, from what I've read in your posts here, I don't think you and Jesus share a lot of common ground when it comes to the poor either. And so now that I have done you the favor I think it would be gentlemanly of you to explain your hypocrisy to me. TIA. Brah.
