I don't know much about it, but I'm pretty sure Rugby is just as physical a sport. There are some gruesome rugby injuries. I don't know how many rugby deaths there are, but I know people get injured bad playing it. How have they changed their rules over the years as players have gotten bigger?

I completely disagree, a study has shown that modern helmets are no better than the leather helmets of old when it comes to concussions. The compared helmets from various eras.

Equipment as a whole hasn't change a lot in football in the 33 years I've been alive. Some of the pads are lighter and stronger and cover more area but they also have athletes who are stronger, run faster and hit much harder.

I completely agree with most of what you said in the final paragraph, and I'm not trying to defend the league, just trying to be objective and look at it from their point of view.

I think since the NFL knows so little about the health ramifications of today's faster and stronger players they are just being "more than safe" to ensure they limit the health issues down the line... another words, the ticky-tack penalties of today may save their league tomorrow (10-20 years down the line). I think the NFL is taking a very long look down the road in their planning, and that is where all of these strange rulings are coming from.

NFL owners couldn't care less about long term player health. They obfuscated about head injury for years like Philip Morris and lung cancer. They care about legal liability.

I would too, my goodness... J.J. sacked Orlovsky as legal as any sack can possibly be. What an insult to add to taking away a sack stat.

Do it again J.J. - You did nothing wrong!- Do it several times preferably in the playoff game upcoming as well...

This wasn't the helmet to helmet hit. That one happened in the 2nd quarter. This was the low hit around the knees on the final drive. Still, wasn't Watt blocked into Orlovsky on that play?

All PFs should be reviewable now in the NFL. Officials are horrible at determining them in real time.
