Let's assume Cowher would indeed be interested in coaching here... wouldn't be a dumb idea to set expectations way high to make it look like the current coach is failing. But more likely, he sees that this is a pretty competently-built team with a lot of weapons offensively and enough defensively to make some noise.

God I wish this man was our head coach. Just knows how to win.

Are we really going to openly pine for another coach in the midst of a 6-3 season?

We certainly pined for just one more bat while our team was winning its first National League pennant in its history.

^^^Hell yes I am. Ive watched too many games we should have won but lost do to Kubiak being out-coached. Bill Cower is a proven winner. I can't imagine how bad Kubiak might get played if we have to go up someone like the Patriots and Bellchyke sp

That's a little different than wanting to bring in an entirely different coaching staff and system.

I'm super happy we're 6-3. I think we're every bit in the discussion for best team in the conference. But honestly, I'm not going to pretend that I wouldn't rather have Bill Cowher coaching this team than Gary Kubiak. Can you honestly say otherwise?

It's pretty much guaranteeing that we never win a Superbowl.

Can you name one coach who has won a Superbowl with 1 team and gone on to do it again with another? No, because it's never happened in the history of the NFL.

Remember how excited they were in Kansas City when they hired Superbowl winning coach Dick Vermeil? Or in Seattle when they hired Mike Holmgren? Or in Miami when they hired Jimmy Johnson? George Seifert in Carolina? Mike Ditka in New Orleans? Bill Parcells in New England, New York (Jets), or Dallas?

What do any of those teams have to show for any of those high-profile hires?

Agreed. This is about the LONG TERM

    1. If going from 4-2 to 6-10 did not get him fired because he has the HARDEST SCHEDULE IN FOOTBALL
I don't think going 12-4 with THE EASIEST SCHEDULE IN FOOTBALL should make him [kubiak] immune

    2. Next year the colts get Peyton back or Luck
Munchak has a season under his belt
and Del Rio is probably gone [Caldwell maybe gone too]
Will the Texans be ready for them ?

Yeah, next year the 0-16 Colts will have a rookie QB and new head coach. We better be ready for them!

The Jags will have a new head coach and a crappy QB. Better be ready for them too!

And the titans will have sup-par inexperienced QB and an unproven head coach who is in completely over his head (sorry, Mike, I love you man, but it's true). We better be ready!

Are you saying that if the Texans go 12-4 this season, Kubiak doesn't deserve to keep his job?

Unless you can think of some reason that having won a ring makes someone less likely to do so again, that's some terrible logic. Lots of things have never happened... until they do.

If the Texans avoid a mid-season slump, it's possible. I think the Ravens will finish with a better record, but a 1st round bye would be awesome.

Apples and bowling balls. I don't remember anyone pining for Joe Torre or Tony LaRussa.

He's saying he shouldn't still have his job today. He's like a few others among us that feel that not firing Kubiak last year (or the year prior) was wrong....and a marshmallow season doesn't validate the decision.

I'll be fair and say that sometimes a team needs to taste success to get swagger and a proper mindset. I keep looking at us like the Chargers, another profoundly talented team that couldn't make the leap into contender status for a while.

Norv Turner is a pretty similar coach to Kubiak, IMO. Same great OC that you don't want running the show rep. Except that they are making it work over there.

And ima makes a solid point - we've assembled a serious squad here with the rest of the division in disarray. Win your division and you go to the playoffs, pure and simple.

Next year will be a much tougher road: NFC-North and AFC-East up to bat....likely along with the AFC North and West champs.

Name the games. Don't just throw out a wild accusation; back it up.

I like Bill Cowher. But he hasn't manned a sideline in, what? Five years? So he won a long time ago, in a rapidly evolving sport - who cares? His prime is, for now, past.

This stuff drives me crazy; this proactive leap to the future to rail against Kubiak for something that hasn't yet happened. he's built an elite offense and currently has an elite defense. Why are assuming the worse?

It must be MISERABLE to be a pessimist. I'm enjoying every second of this season; feels well-earned.
