Red Bull and vodka is crazy good, but I haven't had it in over a year.

I don't do liquor anymore, don't do energy drinks.

Tell me more about these two incidents, if you don't mind. What were all your symptoms, & which was the final straw that made up your mind to go to the hospital each time? Also, had you been partying at all? or exerting yourself, getting too hot/dehydrated? How long were you in the hospital each time, & what all'd they do exactly? THanks for sharing.

I am pretty sure we shouldn't be drinking these things either.

    funny

I was looking through my stats and saw a few hits from here. I was surprised since I am also a huge Rockets fan and live in the Houston area. I consider myself somewhat of an expert on energy drinks since I review them and have tried hundreds. I am no young man either. In moderation they are fine. In fact I just had a V8 Vfusion energy drink (peach Mango) and it has 1 combined serving of fruits and vegetables and is low in sugar. It has the same caffeine as a small Red Bull. There are many healthier energy drinks out there. I try to stick to sugar free ones myself when possible. I only have 1 per day and figure I am better off than all the guys I work with who drink like 2 pots of coffee a night. As for heart issues well I have high Blood Pressure but it has nothing to do with energy drinks. My parents and brothers all have it. My DR never once has told me to restrict caffeine. Ok so as to the original question here I suggest 5 hour energy shot. It is not my favorite but amongst the older people I know who would never drink energy drinks this is a big hit. It works and is easy to find. Anyway look forward to hanging here and discussing Rockets as well as other topics.

It is a bad combo, but I still do it on occassion...As far as Monster, a guy I work with use to work for the company and said he won't drink them...A case or so busted on a pallet once and ate through the wood...not good at all...

    Monster Rehab

I like the new Monster Rehab also. It's great after a long night out or on a hot day. Not a big Monster fan overall though

I'm not either. I used to work 13 hour shifts and down Low Carb Monsters by the case. Now I can't even look at them.

I am really disappointed they don't make the Pomegranate Rockstar any more. That was one of my favorites.

Guess Red Bull Cola didn't catch on either.

    Red Bull cola

Red Bull cola was interesting but it was just a cola and had little caffeine. I mean why not just buy a coke or pepsi for a lot cheaper

    Redbull vodka, FTW.

I don't normally have energy drinks but when I want to drink and get there quickly I drink Redbull vodka. My mother told me to quit doing that in fear of what could happen to my heart and after reading some of your guys responses I find myself giving her some credit. I doubt that will actually get me not to have this yummy drink, but at least I've been warned.

Background... I had been drinking at least 1 redbull everyday for the past 3 years and drink moderately and not that often.

I recently had to have some blood work done for life insurance. I'm healthy and relatively young(28) so i didnt think i had anything to worry about. It turned out that I had some elevated liver enzymes (sgot and slt) in my blood which is scary but could be for a number of reasons.

When i found this out six weeks later, I immediately stopped drinking red bull and went to see my doctor (3 days of no red bull). The test was done again and while the levels had dropped in half, they were still elevated. He said come back in a month and we will redo the tests.

1 month later and with no red bull, I went and had the tests done. All of my levels were back to normal. So it seems like the Red Bull was having a negative effect on my liver.

I realized while i enjoyed Red Bull the possibility of it damaging my body was just not worth it.

    Cool Story Bro

    hmm, didnt catch this before.

    The aortic dissection

I was sitting at my desk at work browsing CF and my lower body went numb, no response when I tried to move my legs. I had a feeling this was something major so I immediately called 911 and got the EMTs headed my way. They got me out took me to the closest hospital where they ran a emergency scan to see what the deal was....as soon as the results came back they called for LifeFlight to get me downtown to Memorial Hermann. They got me in and replaced both the transverse aorta and the descending aorta with an artificial one. I was in the hospital almost a month and forced to layup for another month.

Ive been told it was a close call, if it had burst all the way thru I wouldnt be here today.

The arrhythmia (actually called atrial fibrillation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atrial_fibrillation ) occurred about 2 months out of the hospital for the first thing. Wasnt doing anything physical really, I was bowling league and started feeling pretty bad, sweaty, clammy and washed out. I have a nurse that bowls with me and she noticed I didnt look good so she kept bugging me till I agreed to leave early and go to the ER.

That one only took a couple days, they wanted to keep me in overnight for observation once they got my heartbeat back under control.

There wasnt nothing fun about all that, I used to think I was indestructable like you young guys....so all I can say is...It *can* happen to you. Take better care of yourselves.
