It isn't likely to happen though. The Diaz camp has been talking about possibly making a fight with Hatton or another Jr.WW. The only way a rematch would happen is if they are pretty much forced into it. Like if another Jr.WW they are targeting wants to fight someone else and maybe Hatton doesn't want to fight Diaz. Diaz would have to settle for a rematch with Paulie, which he doesn't want. Diaz is after the big dogs of the divisions. He also will not get a rematch against Marquez, which he also wants. Even if Marquez loses and defends his LW title against the winner of Katsidis/Escobedo, it isn't likely Diaz would get the rematch even at LW. Diaz is the odd man out, no one is targeting him right now. There is still competition at LW. Diaz could fight Edwin Valero, Paulus Moses, or Miguel Acosta. All legit opponents. But like I said, Diaz wants the big dogs of the divisions, which is understandable. He just doesn't have the power to beat a legit Jr.WW.
I watched the fight a few days ago and was shocked by the scoring. I actually felt that Malignaggi won, if anybody. I don't blame him for the things he said postfight.
I think Diaz would take the rematch if there's no chance of fighting Hatton. HBO wants the fight but at the same time it's a high risk low reward fight financially and physically. If he fights Hatton though I'm thinking it's a cash out fight beating Hatton at 140 in Manchester is not easy ask Juan Lazcano every time Hatton was hurt the referee would find some way of stopping the action.
A fight against Hatton would be extremely one sided. They both have a similar come forward, pressure style. But the difference is Diaz has the upper hand in endurance, stamina, and work rate. Only thing Hatton would have going for him is his power and body punching. Speed is about the same. Diaz would land more and score more and win the majority of the rounds. Juan would still win it, even in Hatton's house. Unless they pay him back for the decision over Paulie. Haha, that would suck.
There's no way to beat Hatton in Manchester. He has the judges and the ref in his pocket. If you knock him out I'm sure the ref would say it was a foul and give him time to recover.

Particularly panned by critics of the decision was the 118-110 scorecard rendered by Texas judge Gale Van Hoy. "I enjoyed beating Malignaggi the first time and I'm more than willing to do it again," said Diaz, a former unified lightweight titlist. "This time though, I'm looking for the knockout so I don't have to hear his mouth anymore." Diaz (35-2, 17 KOs) moved up in weight for the first fight, which was contracted at a maximum weight of 138½ pounds. Diaz agreed to 139 for the rematch. "The public demanded this rematch and I am looking forward to fighting Diaz for the second time," said Malignaggi, a former junior welterweight titlist. "This time I'm going to get the win on my record." Diaz promoter Golden Boy and Malignaggi promoter Lou DiBella spent the last two months trying to iron out details of the fight. They're both nice guys Paulie just runs his mouth to market himself it's brilliant because for a guy with just five knockouts he's managed to land some huge fights: Cotto, Hatton, Diaz x 2.
Your attire or a phrase on your shirt doesn't say anything about how "nice" you are, but anyone dressing like HE DID at that press conference is a thug in my book. At first, I read "they're both nice guys" and agreed, but then the "Paulie just runs his mouth" totally negated the first part. You know what I mean?
