Einstein, let's not make rocket science out of basic math here. You seriously cannot understand why some people root for or against players in individual sports? This may surprise you, but rooting one way or the another is the main reason people watch sports to begin with. This applies to individual or team sports. Front-runners always get more love from fans. They also get more hate. That's just the way it is. If you aren't like that, just understand most people aren't like you. If you had 100 random people name their favorite and most disliked golfer, Tiger Woods would be at the top of both lists. Sort of like baseball with the Yankees and Red Sox. Why does a person need to "justify" rooting for someone?
Gotcha. But next time someone tells me their fav golfer is Tiger I am gonna ask why. If its because he is the best... thats man-crush material.
Who cares if it's "man-crush material" (as you define it)? Just curious: From your standpoint, what are justifiable reasons for having a favorite golfer, tennis player, NASCAR driver or boxer? Is this just a Tiger Woods thing with you or does it apply consistently across all individual sports? What about having favorite NBA, NFL and MLB players?
But the things that folks like about Tiger is what makes him the best - preparation, work ethic, commitment, ingenuity, imagination, will to win, etc.
shocking ending, but I just had the feeling that Yang wasn't going to back down in the final round. Tiger was pretty much right when he said that he hit the ball good enough to win, he just didn't make any putts at all and he had plenty of chances to make them. It really feels kinda strange though that Tiger didn't win after having the lead and seemingly in control the whole tournament.
