Recap: typed as I listened, please excuse the typos.

    ------------------------------------------------------

Hosts: DM, why are you so weak on your tweets

DM: Next one will be a Rockets announcment, first on Twitter.

    H: Like NBA Schedule

DM: LOL - no, someone else needs to be fined 5k, I am going for quality over quanity.......

H: Not going to get on Facebook

DM: For every friend you find you find 10 you don't want to find. Folks should get on his twitter, there will be a Rockets announcement THIS WEEK.

H: Do you follow your players tweets?

DM: Followed Ron...LOL...just to make sure his day was going to be ok......but he does follow the fake players.

    H: Is it really Tmac

    DM: I don't know.....

H: Have you caught Marburys act?

DM: Heard about it 2nd hand, more enjoying the Chuck Hayes TMZ video...he was in LA, and TMZ has these female plants that chase him down trying to get them in trouble, he is trying to get away, cause he is a good boy, camera man, who is Chuck Hayes? The camera man hammered him saying he is the guy on teh Houston bench who only gets in when everyone gets hurt...OUCH.

H: Dmorey at Twitter...big announcement coming?

    DM: Medium announcement coming....

H: Have to do with personel?

DM: We will see, gonna keep it vague....a tease so to speak, planning to break it on twitter first.

H: Twitter will become an issue

DM: I think it will settle in, it will be a nice tool for organizations and players to get their message out directly, it will create problems because knuckleheads in the past with new tools get in trouble, it will happen again with this....

    H: NBA schedule coming out?

DM: Yes it comes out today, they look for ways to fine us.

H: Do you honestly think that is JVG twittering?

DM: He is extremely smart, but he would never admit to doing it, even if he was doing it...

H: Question portion of show...Clutchfans had some sent in.....tying up Gortat, why did you not offer him full MLE if you felt it was important enough to go to him at midnight.

DM. We like him as a player, we had a number that balanced upside and risk, at full MLE.....he would be a risk...he got the largest contract for anyone with under 1000 minutes played.....and last year was the first year he EVER played good....previous 3 years he was not good in the D league, not good in Europe....we liked him but it was too risky.

    H: Surprised the Magic matched?

DM: Makes some sense for the Magic, if we were in the same situation we would be going over the lux tax, they just made the finals and are really close, an argument can be made for keeping it to gether.

    H: Von Wafer?

DM: We have a number where we would do it, if he gets more than that, we will have to do our jobs again to replace what he bought us.

H: Are you a moneyball guy?

DM: Every GM is a moneyball guy, biggest part of job is to win title, you need All star caliber players in the NBA, either you do it through the draft, but that is hard because you have to be terrible....or you have to find players that help us win games but are intermediate stuff to trade for high caliber players.

    H: James White vs Von

DM: James has more potential as defender, Von will always be a better offenseive player, has a really strong combo of shooting and attacking the basket....James has less on offense and more on defense and Von is the reverse.

H: Von is the kind of guy that fits into Adelman

DM: Some of where we are at in terms of Von is tied up with Yao Ming, we had to trace down a center, we did not expect Trevor to be available, everything they are doing is putting together a championship roster, we feel like somewhere over the next 5 years Trevor is the starter on a champoionship team, between that and having to chase down a center, or resources have gotten constrained, what Von probably deserves is not what we may be able to give him because of the limited resources.

H: Is David Andersen's deal done?

DM: Mostly, just the buyout and the FIBA stuff left, should be done this week.

H: Some teams let the market set the price, how much of the Rockets number is based upon numbers or potential with eyes as you watch the games.

DM: 50/50 we try to have a rough guidence.....actually 1/3 each......you try to look at the market etc......as an example we don't give away player options but we gave it in Trevor's case we did it because we had to match 4 teams......in our minds it hinders us but we needed to do it.

H: Yao, you guys actually believe that Yao can come back and it is not as career threatening?

DM: I am not a doctor but based upon what the foot specialists are saying they all said with the advances in the genetic goop they put in the bone to help it grow, it gives you optimism, but no one knows how a 7'6" guy's foot will react...but if you look at the data of a normal man, we have optimism there. The bottom line is that with Mac out and Yao out, those are our all star players you need to win a title, whehter taht is Yao coming back or Tracy coming back or whether it is through a trade or young guys develop into that.....that is our focus right now.

H: Do you anticipate Yao's minutes will be regulated, or not?

DM: I would say it is a little early to say but probably in his 1st year back he will be eased into it...there will be a tranistion period based upon the doctors advice or how his foot responds to playing on it.

H: You are not done, things to take place, how many more moving pieces are there in play? You probably make one more move, Major, or minor?

DM: We actually feel we are stable, we could go to TC with this roster, the main move we are focused on is a bigger type of move...well there are 2 moves we are focused on....small upgrades like the Rafer move last year, those are smaller moves that help us, and the other is a major move where we can trade for an all star caliber type player who is one already or who may develop into it...or a fading one that we think has more tread on the tires than others think, got to be opportunisitc, can't force it.

H: Some Dallas sports talk host blamed you for the Orlando signing and that the Rockets will pick him up after Dec 15th.

DM: Now that he is a Magic, we don't adress it.....we had a number, he is over that, for a trade to happen there would have to be some new info and roster moves, not likely.

    H: CHase Buddinger?

DM: He looked excellent we went 5-0...it is only summer league, Chase was terriffic he did what we thought he could do, actually more than we even thought, we are hoping he develops enough on defense to help us.

Jermaine struggles with NBA terminology, and struggled, he is going to take longer.

    Luenan was very good.

    Newley was very good.

Joey was terrrific finally showed what we hoped when we drafted him, defense rebounding etc......

H: Now if we could get 10 fouls a game in the regular season.

DM Actually he fouled only about 4 or 5 a game, but he has shown progress there and we had him focused on that.....so we are pleased there.

H: Follow Dmorey on Twitter....could be new jerseys

DM: Not my type of deal wont be breakfast or new jerseys...

H: Can you confirm the Simmons Artest underwear story....ROn is a different breed of cat, did Ron like to hang in his undies, on the bus in game 7?

DM: I read it, friends with Bill, not happy that came out, we generally try to be a place where players like to come and like to be positive about them.....we won't confirm it, but we are trying to forget everything about him etc.

H: Breaking down Ricks's offense did Ron do that?

DM: Avoid saying negatives about Ron, we don't make 2nd round iwthout him this year....unfortunatly the Yao and Tmac era may be over, and it never worked out.....but we are happy with getting Trevor in his place.

H: What do you think of Trevor's ceiling as an offensive player? He is young, right, where do you think he will grow and what will be his role in Houston?

DM: Hard to put a ceiling on him because he is young, felt he is a starter on a championship team based upon his defense alone....we feel he is a mid level player, one of top 5 wing defenders in the league...coach RA thinks he can do more but we are not hanging our hat on him improving his offense to validate his deal.

    H: Spurs best offseason?

DM: Spurs and Mavericks, which he hates being in our division.

    H: Memphis firing scouts.

DM: Friends with Memphis, but they have it tough with limited resources available as that area is tough to support a team there, just hard..

H: You like guys who are great athletes....etc, do you kind of devalue height at the PF position?

DM: I would not agree with that, where we usually are getting players either in Free agency or picking later in the draft, it really becomes how much do you value height versus other skills...if we have to pay 5 milion more in Free agency for an inch on a guys head over a guy who is quicker stronger and rebounds better....we are going to get the smaller guy. Later in the draft do you take the tall guy who can't play basketball or the shorter guy who can help you win, like the Spurs pick up of Blair.......medical issues stopped the Rockets from taking him but he fits for the Spurs.....that is generally the way we will lead, but for sure if we can get a Kevin Garnet type.....we will...LOL.

H: Is this your vacation time?

DM: Slowest time is probably December...season is rolling along and no one wants to trade at that point....December ends up being slow. Offseason is more intense for GM and personel folks in the NBA

    H: Is Von restricted.

DM: No, he was in his 4th year with us, he is not restricted.

H: Good luck with your medium annoucnement on twitter. What is Adelman's tweet addy?

DM: One of his offseason goals...LOL.....he has been working hard on it....LOL.....140 character limit would be hard on him because he is so verbose.

    H: Thanks DM..

DM: Thanks for having me on.

"Medium announcement": Rockets re-signing Von Wafer???

(Von's now had the opportunity to meet with 2-3 teams and now has a better idea of his market value around the league. With a chance to actually play major minutes next year in Houston, he's probably willing to take even slightly less than market to get that PT and a larger contract next time around.)

Of course, if you ask DaDakota, that would be a MAJOR announcement.

Maybe it will be similar to what he did when meeting with Gortat.

Something like "I'm about to meet with Allen Iverson, send your emails to show your support to beouranswer@yahoo.com" :D

well, IMO shane will be leaving.
Last year, Morey said we will have a minor trade,we get Ron by just a rookie and BJ.
Now, we maybe will lose our Shane cause of "medium"
    :(

Morey said he considered the Rafer-Lowry swap to be a "smaller" type of deal so the announcement is probably something on that level?

Iverson is the only player on the market I can think of that could fit the "fading one (all-star caliber player) that we think has more tread on the tires than others think" description.

Yeah, but do we want those tires? We just got rid of Ron, AI likely brings a host of new problems on and off the court.
