Good find, I'm guessing this is a portion of the MLE?

Nice affordable deal...about what we would have given a stop gap center from the currect free agent list but atleast this guy seems like a decent backup for Yao when he returns so it isnt a one year rental.

Great find... 2.5 mil a year is not bad at all.. that leaves just over 3 million to give to Budinger and Taylor....

Yeah, and the good thing is that it's not very lenghty or overly expensive. Interesting to see that Morey has been attempting to aquire him to be Yao's backup.

Once/if Yao comes back he should be a great change of pace back up for the second team.

Good deal, fair, we get his bird rights...and 3 years of decent play at a reasonable rate.

I would like to sign our 2nd rd picks and Von Wafer and I'd call it a decent free agency for us.

I had read elsewhere that the third year was a player option. If Andersen opts out after two years, then the Rockets will only have "Early Bird" rights on him, meaning that they can sign him outright to a contract with a starting salary equal to the "average player salary" (or MLE amount). He will also be a restricted free agent. If Andersen turns out to be an absolute stud (unlikely), the Rockets could also technically match ANY offer sheet he signs with another team, since other teams must structure their offer sheets a certain way (allowing the Rockets to be ABLE to match it) pursuant to the "Gilbert Arenas" provision of the CBA.

so we've spent 8 million on acquiring player's rights. well i guess it's closer to 10 million since we are giving up a future 2nd and the going rate for 2nd rounders has been around 1.5-2 million.

i hope none of you aholes say les is afraid to spend. who was the douche who always spelled his name as le$?

I'm just wondering if that money wouldve been better spent and the 2nd rd pick kept by just signing a guy like petro for 2m per.

Lets hope he is good. Good enough to package with his sexy contract & McGrady for a real post player that is...

Feigen said yesterday in response to blog comments that the third year is a team option.

Not bad, I'm guessing it'll be 2 million this year with 2.5 and 3 million the following years.

The Rockets wanted an offensive option at C that would work well under Adelman, evidently. Petro's got some size, but can we really expect him to be any more than a marginal offensive player?

Assuming Yao comes back, Andersen appears to have the skills to effectively play alongside Yao on offense, although he doesn't seem to be the rebounder than Scola or Hayes is.

You can only do 8% raises with the MLE, so it's more like 2.3m, 2.5m, 2.7m.

Or Morey might have structured it flat with no raises, 2.5m for all three years.

Maybe so, but the history of international bigs adapting in the first season isn't good. Even scola took half a season and he was a higher rated player. Maybe i'll use my secret password and go watch some games of anderson from the past 3 yrs and give another conclusion. I've only seen him play 3 times and I was not impressed. He's going to take soft to a whole new level.
