I agree the huge contract for Cato because of a fantastic pre-season game was a mistake. But I wouldn't put him at #1... not even in the top 5 actually.

That has to be the worst layup attempt by an NBA player in the history on basketball.

Charles Oakley was a huge gag moment for me.
Weatherspoon looked like crap by the time we got his fat arse.
Mark Jackson looked about 90 years old when we got him.

This is a hard topic to answer cause the 5 worst players ever to wear the uniform would be people you can't remember not players who didn't meet expectations. From the players that i can remember that just always flat out sucked is:

    1: john lucas III
    2: swift
    3: Eddie Griffin (R.I.P)
4: moochie norris most of the time
5: Anybody who got cut in the late 90's Stevie Franchise years.

That was in 1980. In fact, he was second behind George Gervin in scoring that year. Unfortunatley, by the time he got to Houston he had a 6-inch vertical to match his 6 pts per game and couldnt hit the broad side of a barn from long range. In fact...he shot 8 for 35 from the arc for .229% and that was with a closer 3 pt line i believe. Not the worst ever but in my top 5. Someone mentioned contracts earlier...hell, on a side note I think we are still paying Matt Maloney for the crap he didnt do for us from back when we played in those striped pajamas they called uniforms. LOL :D and Dont even get me started on Pippen.....
