I have not heard the album, except for one song on myspace and one song they played at the concert. Definitely sounded dark, although I think their first 2 albums were pretty dark (Antics being somewhat lighter).
Shinedown is awesome live i try to catch them whenever they hit houston. My favorite band is 3 days grace so i went to their last concert at Verizon, they were awesome too as opposed to the first time I saw them.
Anybody catch the free Little Brother show at Warehouse Live last Friday? I can't believe I missed it...
As I Lay Dying was probably the best show I've ever seen. I find it funny that the OP's favorite was Skillet. I've always been somewhat ashamed to admit that I love their music, and for a long time they WERE the best band I'd seen live.
Hey, I'm 36 years old, so I lost my coolness factor ages ago. I okay with it! Hell, that chick in skillet was a hot tamale. No shame in liking her. But probably my favorite concert of all-time was seeing Super Chikan and the Fighting Cocks. I never get tired of seeing him perform. One of my worst concerts was Kenny Wayne Shepard this year at Beale Street Music Fest. I sat through 3 songs before I moved on. All he did was solo and point to the crowd. After seeing 10 acts solo better than him, I was in no mode to see his dumb a$$ solos.
I saw Kings of Leon at Stubbs and then Queens of the Stone Age at Emo's the same night about a year ago. Josh Homme is sick and the new album is killer.
The last concert I saw was Nora Jones at Jones theater a couple of weeks ago. Before that was Rush a couple of years ago and I'm going to see them again in August. Both Nora Jones and Rush were awesome.
Kenny Wayne Shepard is an absolute lame-ass joke. Ditto for Jonny Lang. Great chops, crappy songs & stage presence for the both of them.
Heads up! Voxtrot are playing Saturday, 5/24/2008 at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. They just announced the show like 4 days ago. They go on stage around 11PM. Car Stereo Wars play before them at 10PM. There are two local bands playing starting at 8PM.
Just saw The Fall of Troy, Tera Melos, The Dear Hunter and Foxy Shazam at the White Rabbit in SA last week, and on top of being one of the best shows I've seen, it was the best night of my life. Went across the street to a bar after the show, and low and behold Thomas from TFOT (my favorite band) is just chilling by himself. We go up to him and end up drinking with him for about a half hour, just chatting and the sorts. Then my friend Matt suggests that Thomas should get his bassist and drummer and they should usurp the crappy mexican metal band that was playing, and he sort of just shrugs. Next thing I know, the whole band is on stage starting up an extemporaneous jam. They played one of the most interesting covers I've ever heard, a spastic metal version of Spanish Castle Magic, and two of their songs, oldies but goodies. It was just me and my five friends, and them. SURREAL. He played flawlessly, and was absolutely hammered. Had to share.
