I find this to be very true. A friend of mine has a boyfriend who uses the word freely, as she tells me. It was surprising but at the same time I am glad when I find out about people like this because I can disassociate myself from them.

Read it. He said that what makes it different is that the n word is a word that has been used by people in power to hold down those not in power. The natural implication is that it is somehow less offensive if the racism is perpetrated against a member of a group which has traditionally been in power. It is actually a logical outflow from what he posted.

He outright said that one was worse than the other because of the historical scoio-economic positions of the races involved. He said that because of past oppression, one was worse than the other. The logical outflow of that is that since one is worse than the other, the other must be more acceptable. If A is worse than B, B must be more acceptable than A.
He said one word. Anyway, he just said white trash was worse than the n-word for obvious reasons. He didn't say that it is OK to use it and he did not imply that it is OK to be minority and be racist either.
Lil Pun is correct. I never said White Trash was good to use, just that it didn't have the history, meaning, or significance that the 'N' word does. A cold is bad, but people shouldn't react the same to that as they would to cancer.
I don't know if you're being facetious about this but in the spirit of internet debate I will respond. You want the ACLU to step and protect his rights from what? This isn't a legal proceeding as he's not being charged with a crime or sued. The laws on recording people vary from state to state and I don't know what Hawaii's laws are on this but if they allow for recording a coversation that you are part of then no crime has been committed.
Everyone should really be talking about the fact that a dog could be a bounty hunter. I had a dog for 12 years that was easily one of the world's all-time brilliant dogs and could no doubt kick this dog's ass. As a matter of fact, sounds like he could use a good ass kicking.
