I feel for you and your g/f and I think you did the right thing in handing over the purse...You can always replace material things...You have to think of it as there is someone more desperate and needy than I... I agree you always have to be aware of your surroundings and be careful, no matter how big you are... btw, I don't think this is D&D material...
Damn, texanskan really sorry to hear about that but am glad that you and the girlfriend made it out ok, situations like that can always end up much worse.
Sorry to hear that man. Sounds like a really scary ordeal. Not sure what I would have done had I been there. Hope your GF is alright. As for the stats on robbery by HPD. I'm not surprised.
Man, gotta watch those young black males closely when you go out! Guess I'll be taking a mirror with me and keeping my brothers/cousins in front of me at all times from now on...
I am sure they are a little off, it seems talking to the officer yesterday that pretty much all the white victoms file a report while many of the black and hispanic victoms might not. We had to file a report for three reason #1 with a case number there are little to no issues in getting credit card charges off (there were a ton of them) #2 we can find out where they used it and maybe there will be a camera with the suspects on it. #3 maybe it will help get more police presence in the area
This happen at my place of work saturday http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4968641.html Two men died and one was injured in a shooting in Harris County on Saturday evening, Houston police said. The three injured men were driven to the East Houston Regional Medical Center, 1311 East Freeway, in a private vehicle about 5:30 p.m., police said. Two were pronounced dead and the third was taken to Memorial Hermann-The Texas Medical Center. His condition was unknown. HPD spokesman John Cannon said that police initially received a report of a shot fired at the center about the same time as the victims' vehicle drove up, but investigators now think no one was shot on the center's grounds. Police think the three men were shot somewhere in Harris County's jurisdiction, and the sheriff's office will be investigating. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This the accounts of one of my coworker who was there 3 young black males were in the dark truck the friend (driver) called the ER and notified about his 2 friends being shot. The ER staff was ready and waiting by the ER entrance they were more than 4 of my coworkers they had the stretcher ready and the driver ran inside the hospital my coworkers grabbed one of the victims and place him on the strecher started cpr on the victim during that time a white male got out from a 3rd car and ran up to the victim and shot him dead point blank on the strecther and went around the truck and shot the other victim in the truck outside the ER. A strayed bullet hit my coworkers side of the head during this. The white male took off running. They lockdown the whole hospital and show my coworkers the homocidal tape of the events.
Oh man, sorry you and your gf had to go through that. Good thing there were no serious injuries. Hopefully those guys will have what's coming to them soon enough. You can't live a steady life being a criminal. My friend got mugged at gunpoint at Taco Bell at Scott/Old Spanish Trail by U of H a while back. He and his friend went through the drive thru at about 11 and sat at the fast food parking lot to eat their meals when an African American guy came up to them with a gun. The criminal eventually forced himself in the backseat of the car and demanded money. My other friend tried to go Rambo and refused, but luckily my friend just gave him what he wants so nobody would get hurt. The criminal took about $700 bucks (rent money) and a couple of ipods and took off. They tried to file a report at the U of H police but they said there's nothing they can do if there's really no witnesses. It's basically like going after an invisible guy. It's very upsetting, but I'm afraid they're right. Although it also pisses me off that it seems like the cops aren't even trying. Anyways, thanks for sharing the story texanskan. How big was your gf's purse anyways?
This shows that crime can happen in any part of town, not just the so called rougher areas. Its kind of tough when your faith in humanity is tested, but the odds are it probably won't happen again (meaning it is so random).
I believe that's legal in Texas. If you're putting your purse in the trunk, make sure you do it before you get to wherever it is you're going. My wife/sister got their car broken into and purses stolen b/c someone apparently saw them putting the purses in the trunk.
Yeah this is a very good idea. I usually put anything I have with me that's worth a nickle in my trunk before I leave. I see most of my friends go places and puts their purses and backpacks and what not in their trunks in the parking lot. Not safe.
That is wild. I just had this forwarded to me from Dustin. I'm assuming your girlfriend is Meg? I'm going to reply to his email now.
No it isn't legal to shoot someone if they're fleeing from you. Your life is no longer in danger if they're running. If they break into your house though, and you pull a gun, and they run, I believe you can shoot them. BUT THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I HAVE A CONCEALED HANDGUN LICENSE. I WOULD HAVE BLEW HIS FORKING BRAINS OUT AND THAT'S A FACT. If you're already at gunpoint, I don't know, maybe you could say, "Hang on, let me get some money for you." Pull out the gun instead of money, "BAM!"
yeah, had you pulled a gun out to start a shoot out there with your girlfriend present on the streets.... WHAT COULD POSSIBLY HAVE GONE WRONG???
yeah you can just whip out your loaded gun you carry everywhere and kill a man then magically run away from the other's driving the SUV while with your girlfriend!
