T-Mac will travel with the team for these on-the-road games, and he is gonna play in the next game or the one after next and surprise everybody maybe.

Not a big shocker there. All the comments I've read point to him hopefully returning in the middle of the road trip.

thanks for clearing that up. while reducing his minutes won't help reduce the chance of another spasm, it will still help his back to "calm down" as you put it.

as long as tmac is here, keeping him around 30-36 MPG is a good idea IMO. at least it will keep him feeling and performing better while healthy.

also, while there is no direct connection between minutes played and chance of spasm, there is an increased chance with increased minutes. i'm not saying that it's the heavy minutes that physically have an affect. i'm saying that if a spasm can happen at any time, then limiting his time is a good idea. thinking of it as russian roulette, would you rather take 42 shots or just 30?

tmac will probably retire after his contract. who knows what state he'll be in, in 3 seasons. this is a big reason why i'm not a fan of the "win now" mentality.

we are trying to win now but tmac is not durable enough to bring any consistancy or reliability to this team. winning now, or before tmac retires, will be just as uncertain as his back's game of russian roulette.

with a young team of yao, hayes, novak, snyder, head, billy, and lucas...why are we rushing to win now? those guys will be very solid role players for this team in 3 seasons. all that team needs is a second scorer and an extra big guy.

with tmac only getting worse, it might eb time to start thinking about a change. i'm not saying now. i think we can do some damage this season in the playoffs...but this summer will be a good time to really reflect on this season and just think about it.

This list of players is kinda like one of those SAT questions: Which doesn't belong to the list? :)

    All Star vs YMCA

None of the players on that list are guaranteed to be NBA players 3 years from now and you are talking about building a core with those players? How can you build a core with players who have shown zilch or are not good enough to have a prominent role?

hayes is our starter. head is our 6th man. snyder was in our rotation. billy is in our rotation. we are supposed to be a darkhorse contender for the championship, and you tihnk those players who are contributing right now might not be in the nba in 3 years?

novak's jumper will keep him in the nba. worst case senario: pat garrity...rotation player.

i'm pretty sure we can rely on this group of young players in 3 years since we are reliing on most of them righht now.

The quality of players 4-10 for this team is not great. What makes our rotation great is that we have 2 great superstars who make players around them look good. Let's see how many open 3 pointers Luther Head will take tonight. Let's see how many easy baskets Chuck Hayes will have.

    This is what you said:

Hayes-Starter(by default) Couldn't make the rotation of any other team
Head-Bench player I'll let you fill this after watching the game tonight
Novak-Pat Garrity 3pt shooter with nothing else to offer
Snyder-8th man big athletic body w/no basketball skills to speak of

The future of a basketball team depends on bench players?

understood. any piece of info helps out. i think the warriors are missing some guys from thier rotation tonight as well. we should be able to win that one...who knows about the lakers tomorrow. then tmac returns (probably). not as bad as i thought.

i guess we will have to agree to dissagree. my origional point was that we are in win now mode because of tmac. i dissagree with doing that because if you substitute him for any outside scorer this team would be just as good.

maybe you don't feel like our young guys are good enough to contribute on a championship team, but they are contributing on our team (a darkhorse contender).

i don't know what other argument to make. you dissagree with my point that in 3 years that young group will be solid contributors to our team, but most of them are solid contributors right now (hayes, head, billy, snyder).
