Steve Novak, can we call him the second coming of Kyle Korver?

The biggest knock on Novak is his athletic ability. But after comparing him with JJ Redick and Adam Morrison, it doesn't look that bad.

Novak has better max vertical, better lane agility than Morrison. His weakness is strength, which can be improved easily in the gym.

I feel Novak can be a much better player than Scott Padget, being able to defend better after he bulk up.

wow. i just checked the college stats of those who were regarded as one of the best shooters coming out of their draft, and man, Novak's percentages stand out. Except against Kerr, but Novak's a better free throw shooter. Man Kerr makes his 3pts almost better than Duncan on his free throws.

But Novak's FT% especially is just plain sick. I know playing as not the main option helps his cause, but still.

Man, i think we got good value for our 32nd pick. It makes it a little bit easier to swallow the Gay trade pill.

Can we not spoil it by keeping mentioning this trade?

I thought I was out, but you pulled me back in.

Regarding Novak and Yao's two man game, I am very excited to see how they will operate off the ball on the strong side, with Tracy holding the ball at the top of the arc. Yao can set one of those mammoth screens allowing Novak to curl for a midrange pullup or fade to the 3pt line. Yao also has the option to post up, slip the screen (which allows Tracy to give one of those beautiful baseball passes he tosses to cutters from the top of the arc), or slide to the baseline for a jumper.

If Novak can move and shoot as well as advertised, we could have some very dangerous offensive sets on our hands.

I don't know if Novak is as good as an athlete as Korver, but he's a much better shooter. Korver shoots threes will but his field goal percentage is actually lower than his three point percentage. Novak is a pure shooter that knocks them down from anywhere on the court.

From what i've seen of Novak he looks pretty impressive, and the fact that he can create for himself is a big bonus.

In regards to the JR Smith trade, i'd love to do it. I thought the kid was just a dunker, but i never realised how sweet his shooting stroke is. I've heard he tends to float on the perimeter and that is a concern and his attitude doesn't fit in with the mentality the Rockets seem to be putting on the floor (hence trading Swift and no interest in Gay, acquiring Battier).

But the talent is undeniably there and in his second season, albeit in a small sample size he improved his three point shot (28% to 37%) and free throw shooting (68% to 82%) considerably.

I think he is worth the risk, and because of his contract he will have good trade value should things not work out here. I think the kid deserves a second chance, he is working out in Houston, improving his all-around game, he is determined to prove to his former club that he has what it takes.

How is his defense? How is his speed? JVG is not gonna play a no-defense spot up shooter very much.

Does anyone have the same data of Bargnani (#1 pick) and Nowitzki when he was drafted?

    Tanks in advance.

Maybe because as long as he is with the club he's being paid to play ball.

Maybe he should shoot the technical and "game ending" FTs.

Anyway he reminds me Radmanovic (of course he needs some muscle).

If JVG doesn't want to play a non-veteran (i.e., Rudy Gay), why do board members insist on believing he will play J.R. Smith? Players with promise don't matter nearly so much as players who have experience. Of course, the caveat is "How does a rookie get experience?" on the Rockets. And, don't cite Luther Head's playing time. Because of injuries, JVG had no choice.

Call him the 2nd coming of Brent Price, Matt Maloney, Byrce Drew, Eric Piatkowski, Ryan Bowen, Scott Padgett, and every other slow non bball playing light skinned cat we've selected.

The last pale baller was Peterson (forgot his first name).
