First found the internet in 1995, during the Rockets 2nd title run.

I lived in Los Angeles and worked in IT.

This was before the days of internet security...I used to go to ESPNs website and change the title on the main page to CLUTCH CITY SECOND TITLE RUN CENTRAL.

Found Clutchcity.com (the original name I believe) during the 1996 playoffs. I had a ticket to see the Rockets play the Lakers in the first round at the Forum, and I was reading up on the Rocks as much as I could before the game.

I registered and was known as RocketMan West back then....I changed my moniker to RocketMan Tex when I moved back to Houston in 1998.

I got my first home computer back in 1998, I used Yahoo and I loved using the search engine. I did a search on the Rockets and found Clutch City. I didn't register for a while because I didn't care for any BBS stuff.

So if that is true, then your rival, Rocketman95, is an ELITE ROCKET FAN since he is member #19 - he is actually more elite than you are, tinman! :p  :D ;)

As for me, I found the site (I think) through a google search. Unlike many people here, I immediately started posting when I joined and didn't really lurk (which in hindsight was a mistake on my part).

I do remember participating in a Rockets thing through the HeraldChronicle and posting on it back when Barkley was first on the Rockets but I can't remember my user name at all. All I remember was that it went through the Chronicle and there was this annoying sonics fan on it called "mikmar".

Im pretty sure I stumbled across Clutch City 97(I think that was the incarnation) through the Rockets webring thingy..I didnt register for the board until about 6 months or so before the big server move in 99. I just read the articles on the main site...I dont remember nor miss my old nick, mainly cause all I did was lurk...I might have posted maybe once or twice...tho I really should have given more thoguht to my current nick....it does rather suck in hindsight.

I read a blurb about the site in SI or ESPN the magazine, can't remember which one.

I couldn't believe the quality and professional appearance of the website. Especially things like the historical sections and every person that has played for the Rockets.

Although I don't post much, I enjoy reading all the news regarding the Rockets. Many times breaking news is posted here before any of the media gets hold of it. I think that's worth the price of admission (i.e. tip jar) right there.

I found it back in '97 from a link on Marvin Shubert's Rockets Page (anyone remember that?). Didn't register for the forum until Summer of 98 because up until then I only had net access every other weekend at my dad's.

    Wow!

As for me, one of my endless supply of cousins suggested that this spot was pretty happening for Rockets news. And now here I am.

It's funny though, that I rarely, if ever posted in the GARM. Just too much going on in there.

I sat down in our computer lab at college in '96... next to a guy that kept logging in to "kiss asylum" dot com (IIRC)... and the rest is history... not sure but, anywho... I remember the "launch pad" or something too.

Anyway, dude was on our college b-ball team, and a Houston area guy... he had bookmarked it (those websites) all on almost every PC in there. One of the links he saved was a site that linked to clutchcity.com (or the first site from Boston???)...

Those were the days.... "Super Mario's World" was one of my favorite features back then. ;)

(btw- the Kiss site didn't have anything to do with it, I just started snooping the bookmarks that other people left, and that grabbed my attention... and led to it all...)

I found the site on my own back in 1997. I think I was arguing with a Bulls fan about the typical Rockets vs. Bulls finals that never happened, and I was searching for information on the team.

    Been here ever since.
