Aldridge isn't much of a surprise. The ones I really want to change their minds and fatten up this draft are Noah and Josh McRoberts. They would be the difference between making this draft 6 deep (which we probably won't make) and 8 deep (which is a definite possiblity).
Agreed. Everyone knew Aldridge was going to leave, Noah is a pretty big suprise but hopefully he'll change his mind. His stock can't be much higher and with Oden coming in, the posibility of McRoberts staying in, he could actually fall some.
actually, that's not true. right after the Longhorns lost, they all got sad, and one of their players [can't remember if it was Paulino, Gibson, Aldridge, or Tucker] declared that everyone was gonna codeme back b/c they hated the losing feeling they had. aldridge didn't come out and deny that, so the media kinda used that, plus his shi**y performance that would likely drop him some spots, as an indication that he was staying. i believe the media even asked Coach Barnes what his reply was to their immediate emotional promise in response to their exit, and he said he appreciated their dedication and stuff, but that he realized that it was their emotion that was doing the talking, and that he wasn't gonna believe what they said about staying until they all sat down and thought about it. and no i'm not making this up. this was either on t.v. or on 610 AM right after they lost. i just can't remember if i heard this or watched this. yeah, i wish someone else would come out, too.
BIGS smalls we need a little of everything one thing i say we should avoid is Redick. Pretty much anything else will be fine with me apart from a slow unathletic dude who plays less D than Alston who is proficient only at 20 foot hoppers
The Clips may be shopping Corey Magette this summer. If so, how about our pick plus cap fodder for Magette, to fill our SG vacancy? http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/sports/14304648.htm MAGGETTE AVAILABLE Some concern in the Clippers' magical season may benefit the Bulls. Corey Maggette, the high-scoring Fenwick High School product, is back from his ankle injury and unhappy about not starting. "It needs to change," he said. "I'm 100 percent. I'm ready to play." So much for all that good karma and chemistry. The Clippers have been using defensive specialist Quinton Ross instead of Maggette. The Clippers tried to trade Maggette for Ron Artest, and the feeling is they'll look to deal Maggette after the season. He's not a big three-point threat, but he is a tough, big guard who can get to the free-throw line. With salary-cap room, the Bulls could absorb his salary, thus saving the Clippers the $7 million salary - always important to the Clippers - and give them their first-round pick, which should be in the middle of the first round. It's certainly something the Bulls will consider.
here here Maggette is a gun. Not necessarily gonna fix our perimeter shooting woes but dammit he can put the ball in the basket and get to the line. Unlike the Clippers we'll play him
With him and Yao piling up fouls, we will be in the bonus at the 8 minute mark of every quarter. Talk about sick.
Anybody think Magette is worth Stro and the 1st round pick. If the Clips wanted Artest for Magette, they aren't trading him for just beans.
You misunderstood me. I'm saying with those 2 on the floor together, they will be drawing enough fouls that we will be able to shoot FTs against our opponent with 8 minutes left in each quarter, and we will get a substantial amount of them too. Because Maggette is a foul-generator. He is so aggressive to the basket and creates so much contact he gets the whistle as much as anybody in the NBA. I think Maggette would make us totally devastating offensively.
If we fall where we statistically should fall, we should go for for Shelden Williams--Yao needs a glass eater next to him and i think he is exactly what we need. An Antonio Davis type, a new Otis Thorpe to compliment Yao--minus the touch-down full court passes. I don't know enough about the talent out there in the draft. I love the maggette idea and shame on all of you for making me even entertain the idea of a Yao,McGrady, Maggette combo- but i don't see it happening. I also like the idea of Childress and JR Smith. But we are in a San Antonio position of using our terrible injury-riddled season to our advantage and the suits really have to score this offseason. With Tmac and Yao alone--we are playoff bound. A monster rebounder added to the mix--WCF potential. Yao,McGrady, monster rebounder AND a third scorer??? The haters will be silenced.
I couldn't agree more with this post. Hopefully, we can get Roy somehow with the Lotto pick and Mike Gansey in the second round. Realistically, replace Roy with Brewer.
So did all the UNC people last year right after they won. We saw how that turned out; all of them went into the draft. Let's revisit this again in late May.
