Declawing involves cutting the furthest out bone on each paw off (like cutting off your fingers at the furthest out bending place). It's much more surgically complex than it sounds. You definately don't want to take up home amputations, even on cats. I showed the pictures to one of my cats for her opinion, and she didn't think much of either one. In fact she blew them a big ol' raspberry. pbth!!!
It cost my wife $60 at the Clay Rd. Animal Clinic. They left the HIND claws in because that's the only ones they said a cat could use "out in the street". p.s. MM would win. Our cat (not mine) Cosby is a male about 15 years old and would probably like to watch the fight between MM and Name-less kitty...
