So you are saying its a good thing to change gods word, of course he wouldnt know whats gunna go on later in life, so us MANKIND, HIS creation, should change his words and adopt it around our lazy ass lifestyles... islam is not meant to be a barrier in your life, its supposed to be a way of life, and some people just get the wrong information, and take a really really bad example and just start doing stuff this way. so in other words even though the koran hasn't changed form at all, there are other books that claim to interpret the quran and mohd's teachings which almost always have information which is assinine and is obvious that its not islamic. And most of the people who are terrorists etc, adhere to the second way, the edited interpretation of gods word. and SJC, my bad, i didnt get what you were saying, i read it wrong at that time of the night...
Where has God come down and written anything? It was all man who created the interpetation of God's word in every religious text. Until God himself/herself comes down and says "OK, this is what I want" it is all just speculation. Islam, Budda, Christianity, Judaism, etc...etc...etc... All created by man...possibly inspired by God, but who is to say that the Devil wasn't the one doing the inspiring? How would a lowly man know the difference? DD
DD, ever read "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" by Joseph Campbell? http://www.jitterbug.com/origins/myth.html Do you think it is possible that "God" speaks through our subconscious, and these man-made religions are actually products of something deeper? BTW, there is no god in Buddhism. Buddha was just a smart guy...
that is just your opinion.... ... let me give islam as an example. Mohammad didnt know how to read or write, he had NO education. I find it kind of hard for such a great book with such vast topics in it...
The problem is, your culture has led you to believe being gay is "simple" and normal. Simply gay? Please. Give me a break. All religions are against homosexuals, and if Islam is harsher on them than Christianity, it's because Islam is the final warning. It's the final religion (According to Islam). It's the last word. The last time God will ever descend a religion.
She didn't leaver HER house till she was ready. As for her not wanting to marry the prophet, that's just stupid. Most people wouldn't say no to P Diddy or Bill Gates, much less the messenger of God.
Remember: It doesn't matter what you like or how you like it. the important thing is that it's RIGHT and it's the TRUTH. DaDakota, you will not believe anything uless God comes to you personally and tells you right to your face what's right. Then you have the nerve to call me arrogant earlier in the thread? God is not your servant to come and visit YOU just because you are insecure about the accuracy of religious texts.
If what you're saying is accurate (who are we kidding?) then it should just show you HOW MUCH God hates homos that he let such a horrible person live despite all the horrible things he's done.
Excuses. DaDa prefers Christianity over other religions even if it isn't HIS religion. Aggie, EXCELLENT post. Yes, I do understand the actual context of all those examples, but the way in which you pulled the chair from under an argument was absolutely brilliant.
The problem is that they fear Islam, but they don't fear God. they don't fear hell, or aspire to go to heaven. The problem is that you don't like to be under an apparently rigid code when the fact of the matter is... it doesn't matter what you like. If Jesus is God, you will live by hir rules and his preachings, and you will act as he asked you to act, and be the best possible Christian you can be.... It really doesn't matter if you disagree with him, and it doesn't matter if you don't like it. You're not going to some toystore to pick out a religion that is your favorite color. Fact of the matter, you are the toy from the toystore - God created you just like he created everyone else.
Honestly, I respect DaDa's own views. i don't agree with them ofcourse, but I'm sure he has his reasons for believeing what he believes. But one thing Iw ill never get past is his utter lack of knowledge for Islam. Yet, he continues to critisize it without attempting to ever further his knowledge on Islam.
So you're saying Jesus is a regular guy, no divinity connected to him whatsoever, who cured sick people, etc, etc? That Moses was just some guy who split the ocean?
Even many Christians will tell you that this is a tale. You really believe that some dude split the ocean? Maybe there was just a clever guy who made smart use of the tides to lead his people somewhere and then the story came up that he "split the ocean"....
"David, I'm going to hell! The worst place in the world! With devils and those caves and the ragged clothing! And the heat! My god, the heat!" ~Elaine, Seinfeld You're right, I do not believe in the popular notions of Heaven and Hell. Why? One reason is that I understand that there is no such thing as an eternal self. Nothing has any independent permanent essence, nothing can exist by itself. Nothing, no entity, has its own being. "If we make a cake, we have flour, eggs, sugar and salt, etc. We beat them all up and we bake it, and then we say we have a cake. We eat the cake and it is a real cake eaten by a real mouth. But the cake is empty and the mouth is empty of its own being. What makes the cake is the mouth, and what makes the mouth is the cake. What make the cake are all the ingredients. So we have a real cake, but the cake is illusory. It looks like a real cake. Today it is a real cake, but, if you leave it on the table until tomorrow, or next week, it's not a real cake anymore. So it only has momentary existence as a cake. Not only the ingredients, but the oven makes the cake, the table makes the cake, the spoon makes the cake, the sky makes the cake. The cake is dependent on everything in the universe for its existence, and it is one expression of universal life. In the same way, a human being is one expression of life." ~Sojun Weitsman, Roshi > Selections from Lectures on the Heart Sutra The kingdom of God is available to you in the here and the now. But the question is whether you are available to the kingdom. Our practice is to make ourselves ready for the kingdom so that it can manifest in the here and the now. You don't need to die in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. In fact, you have to be truly alive in order to do so. Hell and heaven are in me, and in you. We have the choice to create hell for ourselves and others, or to help each other to realize heaven. I want to choose heaven. Heaven is the presence of compassion, and Hell is the absence of compassion. Heaven and Hell exist right here on earth, and we all have it in us to create Heaven and to create Hell. I would like to suggest that we all need to learn about comparative religious studies; about cultural myths and metaphors. Joseph Campbell is a good stating point. link For the deluded mind a thousand books of scripture are not enough. For the awakened mind, even a single word is too much. ~ Zen Saying.
she was 9 years old. i don't care if this was 1500 years ago no 9 year old is mature enough to make a decision like that.
why is Islam the last word other than because you believe it to be? Mankind has been around for millions of years and God only decided to give us the house rules 1500 years ago? What took him so long? Were all previous religions inaccurate? Gays have been around since the beginning of mankind and in every culture on the planet. How do you explain that if it's a learned behavior? so your belief that "all religions" are against homosexuality means that homosexuality is NOT OK. (note: many native-American religions didn't feel that way). Conversely, "all religions" approve of slavery so therefore you must believe that slavery IS OK.
It's not that other religions were inaccurate, but rather that religion itself was a progression until Islam. It's not like Judaism was "the faith" and then God changed his mind making Christianity "the faith" and then God changed his mind again making Islam "the faith." There was always one religion and only one religion. God sent Jesus Christ. People that accepted Jesus Christ are Christians and people who rejected him are Jews. These people originate from the same faith. One group embraced him and one group did not. Similarly, people who chose to accept Muhammad are Muslims and those who do not are your Chrsitians and Jews. Prophets were sent with revelation as issues and needs arose. Let me give you an example of what I mean...Abraham is considered to be the father of monotheism. But that does not mean that Noah (who preceded Abraham) preached polytheism. During the time of Noah, people were savages. Preaching the "oneness of God" was not as big a priority as calming these people. When Noah failed at this, God sent the flood. Similarly, when people were still astray, but not savage-like, God sent Abraham with the concept of monotheism. Moses was sent with the Law (Torah), Jesus was sent with the extention of the Law (the Gospel), and Muhammad was sent with what Muslims believe to be the final message (the Quran). Muslims believe that the Bible predicts the coming of Muhammad. People who accept Muhammad are your modern day Muslims and people who do not are Christians. Hope what I said above makes sense
