JJ doesn't live in California either.

Cause JJ Watt lives in Sunny Houston, Texas and plays for the Texans and not Gloomy, windy, earthquakey, Bay Area, and plays for the 49ers or Raiders.

eh, Reeko got it.

Sorry, I'm one fantastic healthy cook chef, and the kitchen is my domain. I'm not giving it up. I have my driver bring me fresh ingredients for every meal.

Man, 400K is pretty sensible for a professional athlete. Wonder if he paid cash for it.

If he did then he's stupid, so I doubt it.

Agree. Pearland is the worst **** hole suburb in the Houston area.

Joined kitchen/living room is the way to go. Cookie-cutter home in a cookie-cutter neighborhood - bleh.

You think going into debt is smarter than paying cash?

You think buying a house for cash is a smart idea when your livelihood could send you to another city? That among other financial reasons.

OremLK 02-13-2012 11:56 AM

Good time to buy... housing market is still terrible. In 10 years that home will probably be worth twice as much.

Bandwagoner 02-13-2012 12:05 PM

He must plan on only living in Houston during football season.

I think he's likely to be here for the immediate future, plus the home isn't that expensive, especially if he got a large bonus and is making over a million a year. Plus, if he lives in an area where other players live, then if he ever gets traded it shouldn't be hard to sell to an incoming player at that price.

And maybe he's got a friend or two living with him, who pay him a little rent

Prince 02-13-2012 12:25 PM

yeah, everything in Texas isbig.

How so? A friend moved out there and the area has really built up as far as I can tell. Their city center is quite nice. What's wrong with it?

Jemarcus lived in Cali. 400k in Cali is chump change for a house.

Awful horrible traffic, not much to do outside of shopping, crime is getting bad there.

True - $400k will buy you a 500 sq ft efficiency in the city. The 1BR/1BA upstairs in my building just went off the market for $560k.

Found some pics of Russell's former pad in Oakland Hills

While there have been many sad moments in the life of JaMarcus Russell (like burning through 1st-overall cash) is the fact that the house he has for sale in Oakland is now online for all to see. That’s usually not embarrassing, but when your worthless jersey is still hanging above the fireplace, it signals failure. Just a hunch – Tom Brady doesn’t have one of his framed jerseys hanging above his fireplace.

The Purple Drank House includes:

• 5884 sq. ft.

• 4 garages!

• 6 bed, 5 bath

• Quiet, Serene and Private Living. Stunning views of the Bay

• A JaMarcus Russell jersey if want it

• $1,600,000

That’s roughly $10,000 per month with 10% down. Good luck finding a bank to let you throw 10% down on $1.6mm these days. Zillow has this pad estimated to be worth $2.6mm so don’t wait. Snatch it and save JaMarcus from losing it to the bank.

The reason why they put the kitchen next to the living room is so that the person who is preparing meals, doing dishes, etc doesn't feel excluded from the rest of the family.

BTW, I'm the structural engineer who designed the foundation and framing for his home. True story, brahs ;)
