Nike is much better than Adidas, but for $200 million, I would sign with any shoes, sperry topsiders, british knights whatever
I really hate that Nike didn't match. I think Adidas, and Tmac comes to mind. I will lose my shhit if Harden gets hurt.
I don't know why u guys keep saying he's gonna get hurt because of some shoes. You guys realize that's litterly the craziest assumption possible. Nike had more injured players in their shoes than any other Basketball shoe but for some reason Adidas is the problem. Last time I heard durant broke his damn foot in...... NIKES!!!!
I don't know man. I've always felt that way about Adidas. I'm superstitious like that, I just don't want to see him get hurt. I'll still buy whatever shoes they come out with though. Lol!
LOL at people afraid of James getting hurt in Adidas. PLAYERS USED TO PLAY IN CHUCK TAYLORS! KD and Kobe had major injuries in Nikes?
I see your point, but players back in the day didn't run at the peak performance the way modern players do, and they didn't play as many games as modern players do. The training is sooo much better now that these guys are almost their own own worst enemies because their pivot points are under so much more stress that when something goes wrong, it REALLY goes wrong because there are 200lb+ physical machines at top power and speed behind those stress points. You wouldn't find that type of player could make it in Chuck Taylors today. If nothing else, the lack of arch support would make plantar fasciitis far more common given the number of games modern pro ballers play.
(This will, no doubt, be seen by some readers as off topic. I'm offering the comments and links as human interest. I think there are Clutchfans who enjoy putting sports and players in a context. I usually enjoy reading about a player's history and not just about his/her skills. I found the articles I am linking to be interesting. If moderators think it shouldn't be here, please move it, or eliminate it as you see fit.) When I first saw in the Chronicle that Harden was being offered a lot of money (no matter what the real figure turns out to be) to represent Adidas shoes, I immediately remembered how Hakeem Olajuwon tried to stem the tide of, what was considered, overpriced basketball shoes. So I looked to see if I could find some write-up about it. I did, but am saving that link until towards the end. That story got me to remembering that the issue of violence surrounding owning sports gear wasn't the only issue. Nike had been in the news for taking advantage of off-shore workers. Those kinds of stories are certainly not new and have been around a long time. Remember Kathy Gifford and the Wal-Mart controversy? Two articles in particular offer a backdrop/context to big name clothing companies and the money involved. They are hopeful as well as stark. http://www.ibtimes.com/despite-low-...empowering-millions-bangladeshi-women-1563419 http://www.thestar.com/news/world/c...ngladesh_sweatshop_meet_my_9yearold_boss.html There was one more specifically about Adidas. http://www.salon.com/2012/08/01/is_adidas_exploiting_workers_salpart/ Workers rights and civil rights. Progress is slow but bound to happen. When "globalization" first became a buzz word, I felt like it was just a matter of time before poor workers around the world would go through the same stage of unionization, that marked the industrial revolution in developed countries. After all, humans are humans, and will eventually realize they have power in numbers and also know when they are being unduly exploited. I think we all admire Hakeem for his character as well as his basketball skills. As this article shows, he tried to make a difference in the hyperbolic sports shoe market. Unfortunately, he didn't succeed. And as the article ends, with a "reintroduction" of a Hakeem shoe, even he, has apparently accepted the inevitability of commerce. Exploitation? No way to say it doesn't exist. An interesting subject that came to mind that also is interesting in this context is whether or not Manhattan was really sold for $24 worth of beads. Apparently not.
This nothing Adidas would know how to make that comes close to Jame's current gear in terms of fit, responsiveness, and super light weight. It would definitely be a game changer.
Spoiler I'm fairly certain his shoes will be in the vein of the Boosts in basketball shoe form. Seems to fit Harden's typical style.
Love those shoes. All black versions come out next Saturday. Also, it may of been said already but does anyone happen to think that the ties the Kardashians have with Adidas(through Kanye) had anything to do with this deal? Really would be cool if those two were to collaborate on some shoes or clothing.
Not sure if posted already but.. http://www.nicekicks.com/2015/08/14...gm-chris-grancio-discusses-james-harden-deal/ <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Exclusive Interview // <a href="https://twitter.com/adidasHoops">@adidasHoops</a> GM Chris Grancio Discusses <a href="https://twitter.com/JHarden13">@JHarden13</a>'s Deal <a href="http://t.co/3rszDBK1CJ">http://t.co/3rszDBK1CJ</a> <a href="http://t.co/OWon6xx6Us">pic.twitter.com/OWon6xx6Us</a></p>— Nice Kicks (@nicekicks) <a href="https://twitter.com/nicekicks/status/632363854018703361">August 15, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I can see Harden blowing his knees out with a Eurostep (knock on wood) but he does have alot of meat and support around the knees/ankles so idk if it's anything to worry about
