You don't need to be John Connor to see that Zboy is determined to terminate the LOFs. If he destroys them, it would register in his CPU that "No Rockets fans harmed"

His programming is bad if he hasn't become self-aware that himself and you are Lin fans that need to be terminated.

You should also ask this question on the Lakers forum where he played last year. I think you'll see a different perspective. There they have already closed their Lin thread and moved on. Here for some reason for some reason the hate just continues to linger. Actually a bit bizarre.

You are in for a nightmare. Jeremy is a nice guy (I still have a bobblehead of his - got to meet him after a game at the Toy Box), but an absurd number of his fans, and they are legion, are bat-**** crazy. I kid you not. You'll see. Sir, you have my deepest sympathy. Oh, and be prepared for very erratic play. Jeremy can have a great night, and then suck for several games. He's very turnover prone. Very apt to leap up in the air to make a pass and while spinning like a top (yeah, in mid-air), realize no one is available to make a pass to. Turnover. He'll do that and make a pass to a phantom player. Turnover. He'll fling the ball at the basket, possibly over the backboard (he's done this in the playoffs). Turnover. All while up in the air. Far too often right around the basket on one of his drives to nowhere. Quite something to see. Point out that perhaps Jeremy didn't make the best possible decision at the time? You (and the members of your forum doing likewise) will be pounced upon by his fans, blaming it on anyone but Jeremy. When all else fails, the loons pull the race card. It can get ugly, and it isn't Jeremy's fault.

Cutting to the chase, Jeremy is a mixed bag, but a genuinely good guy. His fans? Many are very nice and know something about basketball, and some are still here, rooting for the Rockets and we're glad to have them, but when they number in the tens of thousands, the loons come to the fore. Good luck. You need it.

His advanced CPU has indicated that 1999 is the year Clutchfans went live and conquered the internet and world

Besides, Lin fans are not human form, they are in the form of mutant rats

You are in for some madness. For sure. But it probably won't be as bad as it was for this fan board simply because Lin fans have hopefully probably? learned to rein in their expectations a little bit. when Lin landed in Houston it was just after Linsanity and his fans' expectations were way too high.

Lin though is a good guy. Here is a good piece about him when he was in Houston by a very good Rockets beat writer Jason Friedman. I think he will be a good contributor for your team. Especially at that price.

    http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/beyond-linsanity

But yeah, expect some influx of Lin fans to your boards and some craziness. Some of them are extremely juvenile. What seemed to work at the Lakers board, although believe me they got fed up too, was to have a no tolerance policy for personal attacks going either way. There are some real nut cases and you just need to ban them.

On the other hand, Lin's been inconsistent, but when he's on, he really is terrifically fun to watch. So there's that.

Thanks everyone for all of the input on what I'm in for.

Out of curiosity, Was Yao Ming's fanbase equally as crazy, or is this something that is uniquely specific to Lin?

Much has already been said by others so I'll talk about maintaining control of your boards. Make one thread dedicated to Jeremy Lin and demand all Jeremy Lin talk be in that thread. When someone makes another thread about Lin, merge it with the first one. If you don't, his fans will create numerous Jeremy Lin threads and suddenly your board is the Jeremy Lin message board. Real Hornet fans will come to hate this really quickly. So making a contained thread will be good for everyone, and even Lin fans want it. LakersGround did this from the beginning and were able to minimize the impact.

If you genuinely looking for an honest answer, I would suggest you to contact the moderators of lakersground.net. They have done a spectacular job setting rules right from the beginning and laying the ban hammer as soon as someone was not talking about basketball but other players or fans or fans of other player in the one and only Lin thread there. As a result, Lin's games, strength and weakness can be discussed peacefully there.

Human can be very scary especially when they are hiding behind their keyboards.

Expect to have lots of trolls, a huge number of them probably thought Lin was overrated from the beginning and irritated by Lin's ignorance fans, so as a result, they would pretend to be Lin fans and posted the most provocative comments at social media to give Lin or his fans a bad name.

On the other hand, expect a lot of ignorance Lin fans who probably never watch basketball before Linsanity. They would not take any bad comment against their idol and they are relentless to fight over internet.

You would not want either group of these people stay at your forum. Set your rules straight from the beginning, say no mercy to anyone.

Disclaimer: I am a Lin fan.

Initially yes, Yao's fans were a bit overwhelming, mostly due to the sheer quantity of them at the beginning and the understandably low level of English. The thing is, Yao was actually a really good basketball player and a fitting inheritor of the position our beloved Dream left behind. He was humble, funny, nice, skilled, and deserving of "superstar" status. The biggest complaint was that he played the game too peacefully. He grew a pair later though. There wasn't a lot of sources of conflict outside of each side accusing the other that they were responsible for playing Yao too much and therefore causing his injuries later on. To us who grew up in the US, it was like "Pfft, screw the Chinese national team. We need Yao fresh for the NBA season." while for the fans overseas, playing for the national team was a huge symbol of patriotism and loyalty to home.

Keep all Lin talks in one thread. Lay your rules out early and clear. Anyone breaks the rules, ban them. Hard control early, before things get out of hand. Clutch has been too soft on both sides. haha

Yao's fans weren't as nearly as bad. Honestly, I liked almost all of Yao's fans.

Lin's fans are a different kind of crazy. You are not ready.

Any proof at all that there are people posing as Lin fans trying to make his crazy fans look even crazier? Sounds like a persecution complex.

If you want a true opinion of his fan base go to the Lin fan forums or his Facebook. Read a Chris Baldwin article and the comments section. The same absurd opinions that you claim are made up by people who hate Lin fans are the norm. Lin fans deflect--rather than admit he's mediocre they accuse every GM, coach, player and fanbase of racism.

Whats this? Anyone with more than 10 posts in this threads has serious mental problems.
