bad business to conspire with a player's agent.. and bad business to assume the player's gonna be okay with it without having anything in writing first..
I mean it was some pretty **** up $hit what Deandre did, but nonetheless its pretty funny since it happened to the Mavs. Now had Dwight done that to us I would be pretty salty myself.
They didn't make any other signing -- they can't. That's the whole point. This is basically the 10 day period of a verbal commitment prior to the letter of intent for a college player. The only difference is they are getting paid. Why is this a dangerous precedent? It has happened before. Elton Brand did it to the Clippers. Boozer did it to Cleveland. It has happened multiple times. The ONLY difference is social media. Everyone's reaction is instantaneous and on a much larger scale. The league will recover (are they hurting from this? I certainly don't think so), and so will the Mavs (unfortunately).
But all in honesty, this shows Jordan isn't a man of his words. Backing out on agreement like that was low.
If this is the case, every team in the league made bad business moves by trusting the word of their FAs before the moratorium was lifted -- including the Rockets. And no, I'm not buying the Big Bad Dan Fegan angle. Deandre is a grown ass man, capable of making his own decisions. That he didn't even contact the Mavs to inform them of his decision is pretty low, IMO.
I'm still mad that while we were messing around with Bosh we missed out on Lowry and then gutted our depth to do so. If one good thing comes out of this it will be the elimination of the moratorium. I'd rather just wait until they announce the cap officially to the teams, if that means FA opens up on the 6-9th of July so be it. At least it will be clear.
BWAHAHA! "DISRESPECTED!" Poor Parsons. Forever dissed. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Chandler Parsons feels 'disrespected' by DeAndre Jordan's decision to renege on deal with Dallas Mavericks <a href="http://t.co/D9XcPGJJ1x">http://t.co/D9XcPGJJ1x</a></p>— ESPNDallas (@ESPNDallas) <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNDallas/status/619261372791066624">July 9, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I'm not a Mavs or Cuban fan, but this is a raw deal for any team. Of course, Cuban should have known Jordan is an Aggie.

Meanwhile...with the additions of Paul Pierce, Wes Johnson, etc....the Clippers will still be a team to have to worry about come Western Conference playoff time. Note: also they may end up getting Josh Smith
Actually, the move kind of hurts the Rockets come playoff time... Had Deandre signed with Dallas then Dallas would have been better (than last year) but still, with no point guard, and no bench, and Wes Matthews and Parson starting off the season on the DL...they would have been only marginally better. Meanwhile without Deandre the Clippers would have been an 8th seed at best. Now the Mavericks are rebuilding (probably better for them, all things considered) and the Clippers are better than ever with the addition of Paul Pierce as well as the solidity and the sense of team which by this experience will further glue together their "core" players.
Doc said he only got a call from Fegan, when DJ initially picked Dallas....maybe it looks bad, but if that's how DJ does business, through his agent, then Dallas can't really be upset. For all we know, that's how Fegan or the agency advices their clients.
