anyone for him except harden, most underrated pg, top 3-5 pg i realy cant put anyone except maybe westbrook,cp3 and wall over him

Mike Conley has been my favorite pgs in the league. He's the engine that make the grizzles go. And he's a lefty!

Wait a minute. Isn't he turning down the extension so he can be a free agent in 2016 and make even more money? I don't think he's necessarily looking to leave the Grizzlies. And Memphis would never trade him to us.

I'd love Conley on this team, but it ain't happening.

Marc Gasol says return to Memphis sealed by talks with Mike Conley

For accounting purposes, Marc Gasol essentially had only three important conversations before agreeing Monday to a five-year, maximum contract with the Grizzlies.

He spoke extensively at home with his wife, Cristina. He met with Griz controlling owner Robert Pera at a restaurant in Spain. And the 7-foot center was constantly on the telephone with point guard Mike Conley.

“I was just sitting on it. I wanted to talk to Mike Conley,” Gasol told The Commercial Appeal from Spain. “Once I knew Mike Conley was on board, that sealed the deal. We both talked about the future. Once I knew he was on board it was a done deal.”

Gasol implied that Conley provided reassurance that he’ll be just as committed to the franchise in 2016 when Conley becomes an unrestricted free agent. Clearly, a goal for Gasol is to play alongside Conley for the rest of his prime years.

“We talked a lot,” Conley said. “We talked on every flight during the season, and when the season was over we talked and texted a lot. He asked me how I feel and how I think the team will be? He asked me what we have to do to get it done. I just told him the first step is to get you back. You’re the main piece. With you back, it makes it easier for guys to come back and to sign guys.

“He’s as sure about me as I was as sure about him. I don’t see him anywhere else and he doesn’t see me going anywhere else. He wants to continue what we have going. I don’t know if I did that much. I’m just glad he made the decision.”

Gasol, 30, said that the actual terms of a new deal were agreed to quickly. He will earn at least $108 million but the deal could be worth as much as $112 million depending on salary cap figures the NBA releases Wednesday, a source confirmed to The Commercial Appeal. Gasol also has a player option after the fourth year, meaning he could become a free agent again following the 2018-19 season.

Contracts can be signed on Thursday when the free agency moratorium ends. Players could commit to teams beginning July 1, which made Gasol’s decision six days into the process a bit curious.

“I just found out that a lot of people in Memphis were a little nervous. I didn’t know it was that important,” Gasol said. “I wanted to really sit on it and understand everything that was going on. It was actually easier than it looked. It never got to a point where I saw myself out of Memphis.”

Gasol confirmed that he never spoke with any other teams.

“I knew there was a lot of interest and it was overwhelming to see the attention I was getting from other teams,” Gasol said. “It was great to know how much they valued me as a player and as a man with how I go about things. But it wasn’t honest on my side to talk to other teams. They tried to reach out but they never got to me.”

Gasol described his conversation with Pera as candid and revealing.

“We both are straight shooters. There’s no games played. I don’t like to play games. He doesn’t like to play games,” Gasol said. “It’s good to feel that way with ownership. We’re all on the same page. That’s something huge for me.

“The commitment from Robert is really important to me. My commitment is with him. I want to see the guy succeed. I want to see the city of Memphis keep being proud of the team and bring people together. Looking back seven years ago and having 2 to 3,000 people (in the arena) and to see it now is encouraging. I was part of that past and I know I can now be a big part of the future.”

Gasol is expected to return to Memphis next week to sign his new contract.

“I’m just as excited as the fans. I can’t wait,” Gasol said.

“And I want to thank them for their support. It really means the world to me and hopefully we’ll continue to make them proud. We’ve come a long way but we can get better and I have no doubt that we will. I feel good. I’m happy. I’m energized about next season and the next five years.”

Capela is far away from ready. I mean, Capela is a high lottery pick as a big man as of now but he's not as good as Town who just might be a prodigy like Tim Duncan.
