No problem with his getting fired over this. He embarrassed the organization and his boss in a highly public way. No coming back from that. Live and learn. There's a difference between screwing around and making jokes with your boys and screwing around with the public face of your employer. If he's too dumb to realize that, he doesn't deserve the job anyway.

I had a feeling yesterday when I saw the reaction from people and posters about that tweet there was going to be some absurd over reaction by management.....and now i'm shaking my head to hear Chad was fired.

Yes the tweet was a bit over the line, but guess what, it was for a laugh and the intent was not malicious in anyway.....it was in the context of the rivalry between two teams in a sport....some people need to get a grip

I guess I'm in the minority.
But I have no problem with the firing.
It showed extremely poor decision making.
Even if not fireable in itself it speaks to competency.

It's such a sad double standard that Morey is given more leeway to muck-up than this kid. Both are representing the organization. Really, as a marketer I've seen people get fired for similar things and I have always found it really sad and lame. Good talented people shouldn't lose their job to placate the angry masses. People make mistakes, and this one didn't cause any real harm.

I mean we are not talking about Mavs or living horses here, we're talking about emoji! Not a tweet. Not about text. We're talking about Emoji. I know it's important, and I am not trying to diminish it's important. But we're talking about EMOJI. What are we talking about? Emoji. We're talking about Emoji. We're not even talking about text, we're talking about emoji. I mean, who gets fired over an emoji?

Seriously, this might be the first person in history to get fired over an emoji.

What? I thought that joke was one of the best ones of the off-season, as did many others (maybe not top-tier, but at least decent).

Let's not have revisionist history here to prove a point.

Question: Was the phrase in the tweet from some movie or TV show or something?

To me it's just a really creepy-sounding non-sequitur.. but maybe I am missing something, like maybe it's a famous phrase from some movie or show I have not seen.

Can anyone identify if that actually came from somewhere?

I certainly have never heard of anyone saying something like that to a horse before shooting it.
