Is Kobe retiring because nobody wants to pay him 30million?

Poor guy, took a paycut and all....

Thank God! Tired of looking at that smug A-Hole. Note to Kobe, you surpassed Jordan on the all time scoring ranks but you simultaneously claimed the throne as the player with the most missed shots in the history of the NBA so you can take that pride and flush it. Still not on Jordans level.

I hate him, but I'll miss seeing his swagger. One of the NBA greats.

Oh yeah? I only count one.

Or are we throwing Finals and All-Star Games in to this category as well?

He might be slowing down the rebuilding process in LA by staying one more year. Who wants to play with a chucker?

Seriously. The more interesting part of this news is that he's going to stick around and destroy one more Laker season, not that he's going to leave. He should be retiring right now.

So this report was false, right? He hasn't made plans to retire yet. On Grantland Basketball Hour last night Kobe said this report was not true.

It would be more accurate to say, he retired already but might look for a comeback

Yeah, the tweet either never existed or was deleted by the NYC TV anchor. There are rumblings that Kobe might actually want to play a few more years, so the Lakers are open to a longer term rebuild instead of trying to bring in lots of older players to "win now" for Kobe's last season.

Anyone hear Kobe on Kimmel? Asked if he could build a team around a player, he said, James Harden!

    Harden getting the love!

    - respect the mamba. lets be real now. at the peak of his powers (2005-2011) he was not 1 to be messed with
    - if the MVP award was player voted and not media voted kobe would have won atleast 3
    - 2012-2013 lakers are a 300 team. kobe guarantees lakers in playoffs after a reporter asks him how he feels about missing playoffs (during all star break). lakers go on a 700 streak the rest of the season and make playoffs
    - 81 points son

    he will sorely be missed

Yes he was a great player during his prime. I am not a fan since He does not play smart basketball IMHO and while he was important for all his championships during 3 he was clearly not the best player.

Are you seriously using the 2012-2013 as an example why Kobe is great:confused: Many would use that season as an example why Kobe does not play intelligent basketbal.

I am not that impressed by that 81 Point game. It takes a lot of selfish basketbal to get to that point. Yes he played great and shot a great percentage but he also took more shots than the rest of his team combined and it was against a terrible team. So it is impressive, but other great scorers could do something similar if they just played tha selfish.

Kobe has seen Harden as his successor for a while now.

People see Harden's free throws and say its ugly, Kobe loves that **** (but Kobe's fans don't realize this).

How many times is he going to announce that he's retiring next season?
