So I'm 21 because I went to college? Sweet! Time to go to the bar for the first time and get plastered out my mind. Crazy how I just heard this age thing. It's like a Loreal commercial but for college.

Due to Dwight's personality, he is only 24. Entering his prime right now.

Age as in wear and tear. Years in the NBA

Doctor is saying it is small because they always minimize things. But how does he have so much swelling since training camp? No injury specifically?

Nothing that is happening or being said sounds like Dwight being the same player he was.

This is going to be a long post so here goes

You should have stopped when you said you are not a doctor. You have no medical or sports medicine training so chill out. Dwight's injury is on the non weight bearing portion of his knee, the knee cap. This is not the same thing that lay people come to understand with cartilage damage. He has bone edema, not knee swelling. Jadeveon Clowney had knee swelling and had microfracture because it was the weight bearing portion of the knee between the thigh and shin bones.

I am a sports physical therapist who deals with this type of stuff regulary so listen closely. Dr. Lowe came out and said what Dwight had was the equivalent of a bone bruise. That means the MRI showed a hot spot in the bone. We typically see bone bruises after an ACL injury. When the ACL tears the bones bang together quickly causing a bone bruise aka bone edema. What Dwight has is a slow gradual onset of the same thing. Clowney's knee blew up like a balloon with swelling. Dwight's knee shows a hot spot. Will he eventually need surgery? Maybe. But it doesn't necessarily mean it's microfracture. If the damage is tiny there is nothing to microfracture. If there is excessive pressure on the lateral side of his knee the doctor could do a lateral release to help the knee cap track better and/or a chondroplasty to smooth out cartilage that has roughened up. A chondroplasty is part of every knee scope and is a fancy word for smoothing out cartilage where damage has occurred. If you have torn your meniscus or ACL and had surgery you had a chondroplasty.

I actually have treated patients and still treat patients of Dr. Lowe's. He is not a liar and does not sugarcoat anything. He gains no benefit by giving an interview and lying about the seriousness of an athlete's injury. We as healthcare professionals are not even allowed to discuss a patient's medical condition without consent from the patient which means the fact he is discussing Dwight's knee means Dwight has allowed him to do so. If this was a dire situation do you think Dwight would allow him to openly talk about it and torpedo his future earnings? There would be silence on the matter, not full disclosure. FYI: Team doctors are not paid by the team. The hospital system pays the team to be a sponsor. I work for Methodist and we sponsor the Astros, Texans, and Dynamo. We pay them sponsorship rights and name a team physician that works for us. Memorial Hermann has the Rockets. The only time a team doctor get any money is if he performs surgery on a player. He gets the same fee whether he operates on Clowney or Dwight or you or I and the fee is paid by Workers Comp, the same as you or I if we got hurt on the job. Their job is sports therefore they qualify for the same Workers Comp benefits that you or I get. The athletic trainers and physical therapists are team employees so take their comments with a grain of salt but the doctors are independent practitioners. Bottom line is if the team doc goes in depth on something take it to the bank. There is no agenda and he gains nothing monetarily out of it. If the hospital gives up sponsorship next year he is no longer the team doc just like that.

If you got through all of that thanks for reading. There is a lot of skepticism by fans when it comes to injury reports. Take team employes reports with a grain of salt but listen to the team doc when he speaks. Hopefully after this long post you now understand why.

Where did you hear that Dwight has damage to his knee cap?

So you basically came to the conclusion that Dwight tore his ACL

At least sweet lou was speculating on whats been said from dwight himself.

Well I took CPR and First Aid training, so I'm pretty much a doctor. In my medical opinion Dwight has reverse diabetes. When he gave up the junk food, it messed up his knees. Like diabetes, the only cure for reverse diabetes is to chop off Dwight's foot. We can give him a bionic one, but we are not sure if the NBA will allow it. As I get more info I will post updates.

Wow. You can't read. I said what he has in the bone in his knee (bone edema) is what is typical after someone's tears their ACL and suffers a bone bruise. The terms are analogous. Please read before you post nonsense.

You are all welcome for those that have commented on my post. It gets frustrating when people shoot their mouths off and try to send the fans into a frenzy. Just wanted to peel back the curtain on what really happens in sports medicine.

    Amen. Thank you.

Nothing about this situation has given me flashbacks to Yao or McGrady. Guys, stop being paranoid.....bad as some conspiracy theorists.

Thank you for the real info.

I will only say that is nearly identical to what TMac had, so naturally some of us are very skeptical.
