cmon man you know the texans dont touch anybody with character issues. i'd take him thouhg if he somehow slipped.
I believe you may be stat watching here. Mariota has always had red flags because of his system... It is said he doesn't have to anticipate throws and or make more than one read (heck, with that fast paced system a lot of times they snap the ball before the defense is even set), and those red flags came to light during the championship game. It's not about numbers it's about Jones being the better pro prospect. The NFL has shown you time and time again that they do not always care about the numbers. And I don't think anyone is saying he'll be a guaranteed star in the NFL _ they're saying because of his size and skill set (along with poise in the pocket, being able to make more than one read and anticipate throws) he's worth a roll of the dice. So now you're going to knock the kid for being on a good team... Same thing that's been going on with Russell in the NFL.
I think it's possible that Urban would start Barrett or Miller (if he doesn't transfer) over Jones... They look more of his type just judging by the quarterbacks Urban has had. They may fit his system better than what Jones does. It may not necessarily be about who's better when the team could win with either of them... It could be about preference.
I think Urban would prefer next season end the way this season did. As far as past QBs go, Urban has had big QBs (Tebow & Cam) on his roster and has faired well. The kid is a winner with room to grow, why fix what isn't broken?
Alex Smith, Chris Leak, Tim Tebow, Cardale Jones. System qbs. Do not want. Resign Mallett and draft Hundley in the second
It wasn't broken with the other quarterbacks either... But we'll see what happens because it looks like Jones is going to stay.
Well .. he was third on the depth chart so the other two shouldn't be hacks He might think he would have won with any of them so the competition is open *shrug* Rocket River
Alright lets smash this nonsense right now. From an article about Jameis Winston being possibly drafted by the Texans: "The Texans' concern about character is sometimes exaggerated. They are perfectly willing to take a chance on someone, and they've done it several times. They do their own research and draw their own conclusions about individuals. There have been plenty of cases where the Texans took a chance on a player with some sort of character issue or concern in his background. They've mostly been rewarded for taking those chances. Former outside linebacker Bryan Braman, who was indefinitely suspended from West Texas A&M after pleading guilty to a charge of manufacturing hallucinogens, is one example. The Texans gave him a chance as an undrafted rookie and he remained with the team, and out of trouble, until becoming a free agent last season. And the Texans will do their own research about the sexual assault accusation for which Winston was never charged. They will determine, independent of the operations of the Tallahassee Police Department, the impact that could have on their draft-day decisions. The subject matter is important to McNair, who told reporters during the fall league meetings that someone in his family was sexually assaulted. The Texans will consider the incident when Winston was issued a civil citation for leaving a supermarket without paying for crab legs and crawfish, and the instances of public immaturity for which the QB has had to answer. They'll look deeper into his past to see if there's anything else alarming."

The "Draft Experts" think he'll go in the first two rounds. I think he should declare. Who knows what could happen a year from now.

He should go, can't risk an injury even with a good insurance. He's already hit the trifecta pinnacle of college football. Conference title, Major Bowl, and Championship.
You should listen to me more often, people might think that you know what you are talking about if you do.
