Motiejunas and TJ better see the court though, if McHale cannot work that out, I will be even more pissed about the extension!
I think NBA coaches are all about having the credibility or personality to be the alpha dog in an ego driven world. Everyone playing has been 'the' star their whole lives, everyone make enough money to control their lives. They have to have the strenght to say "you sit" or "you aren't making an effort" without getting dissention within the team. It seems McHale has that. The assistants should run the X's and O's and clock management. I guess that means too that the Head Coach should be of a stature to hire top assistants. McHale does that too. I think after a lot of turnover we have built to a point that we want a year or two of stability to let this team play out.
You think black and Dorsey will play more minutes? Dwight has already expressed his concern about everyone playing too many minutes.
I dont like Milk Hair the coach, but the man had a huge role in bring Dwight to Houston. Congrats to Mchale...now you better not get bounced in the first round...rrrrghh..
Remember how McHale favoured Ish Smith over Canaan in the pre-season when EVERYBODY saw how terrible that guy was...the incompetence that is McHale does not leave just because he has a talented roster.
Note: Dwight came to Houston because McHale was the COACH of the Rockets, not because he was a man. You're making a big deal of . . . preseason rotations? You have no shame. You have never faced up to calling me out. You told me to ""call you" . . . . I keep calling like you told me to, and you keep running away. "Hope we keep losing" is 100% troll. When your hatred for the Rockets wells up, why not take it to another site?
I have mixed feelings. I really like McHale's public persona. He does great interviews. Coaching, not so much. The assistants are really key for Houston. I think they are doing a good job this year. So what if there is another first round exit? I would have waited till the end of the season for this one. Feels a little like Schaub and Kubiak extensions. Premature.
I didn't hear my phone ring...no I seriously hoped at the beginning that we would lose, no trolling, since sometimes losing forces a GM / owner to fire somebody. However, since JB Bickerstaff in particular, but probably TR Dunn and McHale maybe have caused us to be a good defensive team. That alone is reason for optimism, but it's still pre-mature to extend the guy. I rather JB Bickerstaff take over as head coach, but I guess since McHale has the respect of the guys, he's worthy to us.
Nice guy, yes man, approachable, doesn't talk back, doesnt believe in anything, and all the characteristics of a good worker. The only flaw is, he's taking some dumbass philosophy inspired by stats coming from Morey. Morey the GM = good. Morey the coach = bad. Here lies the problem. Yes, it's a weird extension time, but it's just the guilty conscious of Les playing games with him of all the people he's done wrong
Yes. I voted in favor of Kevin McHale in a Kevin McHale poll. I feel dirty. But like it or not, this is the first Rockets team to have the faintest of title chances in 8 years and it's time to lock in all the important personnel and be all in for the next 5 years. Gregg Popovich is not walking through that door. McHale has been winning for long enough that I just have to shrug at his tactical weakness and assume he knows best. Let's just do it.
So, still think McHale is a good coach? Even with a deep team, he cannot help himself but play only 8 guys and some minutes for a 9th...
I think he earned it, but it should have been done after the playoffs, not sold on McHale as a quality winning strategist. DD
It looks good now that we're winning. But let's not forget some of the best western conference teams are resting their top players strictly for the postseason. So our regular season record means nothing. I don't have as much faith in Mchale as the organization does
