Kinda bland but then again I had this at the supermarket oh well. Was too lazy to go down Washington ave or anywhere uptownish.

I don't think its necessarily overhyped, just not executed well in Houston. In regards to fad food, I would consider ramen the base for asian soul food just like chicken is for soul food here. Nothing comforting than a hot bowl of ramen when you are hungry.
I'm addicted to their kalbi ramen. Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ Address: 510 Gray St, Houston, TX 77002 Phone713) 750-9520
As I posted in the other food thread, avoid this place like the plague. It's super bland and they only have like 6 types of their signature bland Ramen available, bunch of tweener hipsters in rolled up jeans and loafers, the place is very dirty and the service was absolutely horrible. All of the servers were to busy speaking seenster speak while sipping their Sangria's to handle table duty. This place will be out of business in less than a year, bank on it.
the best ramen ive had was in sf and nyc. ive yet to find anything here comparable. its a fad in dallas or Houston though.
I like fat bao and tiger den. There is a new one on midtown called jinya that I am aiming to try. Westchase has jin ramen but I wasn't impressed
If you're in the Sugar Land/Kempner High School area, I just discovered a place. It's fusion/healthy/pho and ramen, Yeah!!! Ky Ans Kitchen Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler
Heard Kata,Treppays, Aka (eldridge) were pretty good. I think Ramen Jin is okay. I did not like Tiger Den or Fat Bao. Ramen Tatsu-Ya and Michi Ramen in Austin are really good. However, they still do not compare to California or NY. Ramen Dojo in SF area is the bomb. Ramen is a fad in the Texas area, but is a common food for Americans, not just Asians, in Cali and NY.
ichiran in hong kong if you guys have a chance is the best egg I have ever eaten in my life. You get your individual kiosk to sit in and ppl pop up from behind the curtain at the kiosk to deliver your food. Its pretty neat. You can see some pics of it here. http://www.mycookinghut.com/2014/03/13/ichiran-%E4%B8%80%E8%98%AD-vs-butao-%E8%B1%9A%E7%8E%8B-ramen-hong-kong/
