I think some of you guys are jumping ahead of yourselves. The deal was not trading Parsons for Howard. The deal was to pay the max for Howard but to pay Parsons more also. Dwight wouldn't be against Parsons getting paid more. Everyone knew including Morey and Dwight that Parsons was worth at least 10 million a year. Where crap hit the fan is when Fegan somehow go Cuban to fork over 15 million a year with a trade kicker. No one knew Fegan and Cuban were that close and that Cuban was so butt hurt that he we sacrifice his team and his money just to stick it to the rockets.

The original plan was to get Howard and pay Parson a lot more money. It became getting Howard and losing Parsons because another team's owner who hates us enough to pay Parsons stupid money with stupid contract stipulations.

Either way Fegan played us big time.

People are saying that the result is we get Howard this year and lose Parsons this year. Not literally a trade, just the way it works out, and a dam good trade clearly.

Dwight is not for or against another player making more money. But as a player he wants to play on the best team possible with the most talent giving him the best chance at titles and product endorsements. Letting Parsons go a year early is not in Dwights interests assuming his goal is to win a title which I believe it is. Therefore, Fegan acted against his clients best interests instead favoring another client (which should not be a consideration in negotiating for Dwight). Fegan put his own interests (more money from a Parsons year early deal) above and over the interests of Howard. That should be illegal for an agent, it is certainly unethical, and probably against league rules. If so, the league should bar Fegan from representing players in the future. Fegan should know the rules. He should be punished. He had the Rockets over a barrel cause they clearly wanted Dwight and there was nothing they could do but bend over. But Fegan should be punished for his unethical agent actions.

As for Cuban, not sure if he wanted Parsons that bad, or if Fegan tricked him into thinking the Rockets would match and that would hurt the Rockets. Cuban is not stupid. I think he figured the Mavs would be better with Parsons, so it has to be a painful contract or else the Rockets do match. So at the end of the day, he either has to get stuck with a bad contract or he sticks Houston with a bad contract. So from his perspective he was willing to do it.

Now the next step is, did Fegan do another under the table deal? Did he say or promise to Cuban that Dwight would go to Dallas but only if Cuban signed the ****ty deal to get Parsons?

I don't have a problem with an agent representing a client in a single negotiation. And certainly his job is to play owners against one another to get a player the best deal. However, he should not while negotiating one deal hurt that client by using that player as leverage for another player.

If Fegan already broke the rules, why would he not do it again? What else don't we know? What did he have to promise Cuban in order to get him to over pay for Parsons? Did he promise that he would talk Dwight into opting out early of the Rockets contract? Did he promise "If you sign Parsons to this stupid contract, Dwight will be a Mav in a couple years too."

I have no doubt Cuban would do that, we know he is a rule breaker, an inside trader, willing to do anything to feed his oversized ego. And we know Fegan is an agent, enough said.

This smells. This smells really bad. The NBA should investigate, and if what is clearly suspicious is true, then Fegan should be stripped of his agent's license and barred from the NBA. Agents hold all the cards, teams want to win. If agents break the rules, there should be consequences. I suspect that verbal agreements and under table deals are hard to prove. If for some reason, Dwight ends up in Dallas, Morey should come clean and confess, and Fegan should be banned off his illegal gravy train. Not a threat Fegan. But if it happens, beware. There will be consequences. Morey needs to play hard ball with Fegan. If Dwight ever leaves the Rockets for any reason, Morey should confess that what clutch states in the article is all true. Maybe Morey can put an end to the Fegan games after all. And if it means breaking his promise to Cuban, what can Cuban do? Can he complain that his illegal deal was not honored? Ha Ha ha. I hope Cuban has to eat Parsons contract, and I hope Fegan will rightly fear that if Dwight EVER leaves the Rockets, Fegan will be barred from the NBA for this nonsense.

That's a bargain deal for Morey to make at the end of the day. We got the best of Parsons at 900k and then he dipped but we still had Dwight and got Ariza at a bargain

it all worked out given that Parsons became injury prone and not worth a big contract anyway.

He got paid, we dodged a bullet.

Swapping Parsons at $15M for Ariza at $8M might have been one of the best moves Morey ever made, and it was simply because his hand was forced. It's always funny how these things work out (both in good terms, and in bad terms).

    Parsons isn't lying tho.

While the bbs was a mess because of LOFs, that was suuuch and exiting time.

We have this young star growing before our eyes. We had some 2nd rd player balling like a max player. We had some young talent. We played way over our heads and fast.

The three person pregame handshake with Harden Lin and parsons was so fun to watch also.

Hoping this rebuild could lead to such optimistic moments like that again.

@Clutch - what's the rumor on the Westbrook/CP trade you referenced in that twitter thread that you said will finally come out many years later?
