There should be a poll for this thread. C'mon OP. I'll tell you the answer to your question once you get the poll up and running.
TMac was a uniquely frustrating player for me to watch. My mental image of him as a Rocket isn't 13 in 35, it's taking contested 17' jumpers over and over. We'd see flashes of '03 Mcgrady here and there, but he never lived up to his immense potential in his time here. How much of that is due to the dreadful Van Gundy offensive system, a dearth of good teammates, lingering physical issues, or a lack of self-discipline will probably never be definitively answered. All that said, that era of the team is my least favorite in my time as a Rocket fan, and he played a part. As for Harden, I have some concerns over his long-term health, but at the moment I'm more optimistic about his future and about the current team than I was with TMac and the TMac/Yao teams. Of course, the final verdict won't come until he hangs up his Rockets uniform and we have a little time to look back.
The Tmac fans don't live within a 1000 mile radius of Houston. Also, I understand your username. Tmac fans have no idea.
Probably not, but I'm pretty confident in him getting us out of the 1st rd. before its all said and done.
I got love for Tmac for all the fun memories he gave me...but If Harden isn't better than we are in for another disappointing era. As far as Tmac goes and superstars...I mean he didn't accomplish much. Most superstars at least get a conference finals appearance in there somewhere. So hopefully Harden will make this a easy question 5 years from now.
I would have a hard time saying Harden is better than TMac. Both phenomenal talents. But the team is definitely better, so there's that.
Both players have something you wish the other player had. You wish harden had mcgrady's: -jumper and high release -defense -turnaround jumper -passing and ability to create for both himself and others -ball handling because mcgrady had one the highest points created per turnover -lenghth -athleticism/vertical -streakiness You wish mcgrady had harden's: -step back jumper -durability -strength -heart -consistency -relentlessness -preference to penetrate to the basket over rising up and shooting over a defender -beard Both players are good drivers, shooters, and pure scorers. Right now, mcgrady. But that could change by the end of hardens tenure as a rocket. Yao ming is a huge reason i loved that era of the rockets as well.
It's from stats.nba.com. Here's the link for last 30 seconds, leading or trailing by 3 or less (minimum 10 attempts). You can change the parameters to get the others. FYI stats.nba.com has been really slow today. http://stats.nba.com/leaguePlayerCl...&filters=FGA*GE*10&PerMode=Totals&PointDiff=3
i mean, neither of them got the rockets passed the second round. im liking harden's prospects better than T-mac's career that ended in tragedy. harden is young and is still growing as a player, and i really hope he finally blossoms into a bonefied super star. i still think he has a lot to prove, and has got to be that guy to consistently carry our team in hard times in the playoffs. harden is a very efficient player and is developing an nice jab step move that i really like when he goes ISO in the final seconds. to me though he is not the scorer like tmac was, nor does he have the consistent high gear that tmac had. but he can drive to the basket and is a well rounded player who needs to work on defense. time will tell, much potential. but we are jaded houston fans, and want to see results not potential.
I guarantee you would have said the exact same thing about Tmac immediately after the mavs playoffs series loss.
