No doubt. Nobody has the right to judge the man for wanting to die with (at least what he felt was) some dignity.
That was probably the impetus for this. Depression can be tolerable, but when you know your body is about to fail you as well it's a tough way to live. I would personally never opt out, but it makes a little more sense now why he would.
The bit about he and his wife sleeping in separate rooms indicates they must have had some dispute, which adds onto the loads of afflictions he was facing.
Not necessarily. Sometimes, married folks do sleep in separate rooms after a while. My parents do. There could be any number of reasons why they were sleeping in separate bedrooms that have nothing to do with a dispute.
Wow, I never knew that. Must be an American thing. Indian parents sleeping in separate rooms comes off has both parties having a dispute.
I just hate that he went out the way he did; leaving a loved one to find his body that way. A friend did the same thing to herself several years ago and I know her parents will have to live with that image for the rest of their lives. Just so sad...all the way around.
Marc Maron reposted his WTF podcast interview with Williams from 2010. It's a rare, low key, genuine interview but it eerily ends with Williams kind of joking about how he once pondered suicide and quickly convinced himself otherwise. Also questlove posted a cool anecdote about meeting Williams and how he blew them away because he knew all the Roots members by name. Btw he has kids named Zelda and Pym, was he geeking out or is that coincidence?
His favorite video game series was the Legend of Zelda and his son thought of the name, and they ran with it. Not sure about Pym. Heres a commercial with her for Ocarina of time <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/bINUfbLV_0M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
My neighbors, who are black, sleep in separate rooms. They make their 5 kids share two bedrooms upstairs.
His wife is on to something. I think it's just more than Parkinson's to drive Mr Williams out of his mind. Maybe his wife was cheating on him????
