he's getting old? he's already old. He's been in the league ever since Vlade Divac, and Dikimbe Mutumbo were playing.

Unless he gets injured I don't see David West opting into his contract next offseason. At his age, he has one last solid pay day coming. Coupled with the lack of expected free agent big available (at least those expected to change teams), he will be better served going for one more deal. A 3 year c

Hit send too soon. West could command a 3 year deal in the 24-30 million range next offseason if healthy. That's better than gambling on 2016 offseason with more talent expected to be available.

We'd almost assuredly have to give up an asset to offload him for no money at all next year if he picks up his option. If he struggles, it may be impossible.

lol. Never thought Jones was a good defender. His weak side blocks gives him the appearance though. His rotations suck and he has hard time guarding stronger PF's which is most of them.

Had another dude tell me though that West is an elite defender using his win share ratio advanced stat.

If he keeps up his play, he would either opt out, or we would assuredly get an asset in return for him, or at least be able to move him for free. If he ends up regressing and struggles, then we might have to give up an asset.

A 12 million expiring contract is never impossible to move, and very highly doubt regresses to the point where he still isn't a serviceable player.

He's fine. Tough. Defensive win shares are mostly about team, though.

David West is a solid player, though taking the last experience with Bosh, the Rockets need to stop changing the team and let these guys play. They ruined a great team, which was a favorite to win a title and now Morey is trying to patch the team up to stay competitive. Terrence Jones is a great piece alongside Howard, we need a backup PG and C. These can be utility players who help with depth, not coming in to be a superstar. Let's stop focusing on a all-star, and focus on balancing the team out. This is the agenda now, since we could not land Bosh/Carmello/Rondo/James, it's important to balance the team out after giving up key pieces. Plus all these so-called superstars are getting older, and the Rockets were just fine with their youth against the top teams in the league.:cool:

I don't know about that, was anyone really going to offer a 33 year old West more than 36 mil, 3 years? A much younger Millsap only got 19 mil, 2 years that summer. It wasn't a great market.

Maybe you are thinking about his first contract with the Pacers. I don't remember Boston targeting West last summer, they were blowing it up.

When it comes to his first contract, Boston did target him, IIRC they offered an extra year, but he chose a worse team at the time (Pacers) and more money per year. Ray Allen even called him out for taking money over wins.

Hibbert got to be worth more than Dalembert and 3 randoms with serious knee and ankle issues. That's a negative value package.
Anyway, I don't see him getting traded.

You guys don't want Greg Monroe who is young, an exellent rebounder, and has a nice post game, but would rather have and old David West?
