You might be right. Hopefully the friendly opening warms them up. That forum is pretty brutal though. Bans occur over there all the time for a little of nothing.
I live in Phoenix so I deal with Suns fans all the time. Most of my friends are Suns fans. They are literally ****ing idiots when it somes to the Suns abd Cards. At one point last year no joke they thought the Suns were a top 4 seed in the West ...
First reply from a Suns fan was this. Interesting to see how each city views their situation. "Personally, I think we'll be better than the Rockets, though even around here it's a minority opinion. You're right though, we are small and thin up front. There just aren't any great bigs available that fit our system. It's not for lack of trying. Enjoy Ish Smith. He's fun. Cheers!" http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1335990&p=40711362#p40711362
Haha. I liked the "I personally think we'll be better than the Rockets" response. They added nobody. We lost nobody. We finished 6 games ahead of them.....not happening.
This seems to be the sentiment of most Suns fans about losing Dragic to Houston. "I imagine that the Suns are not interested in trading Dragic to the Rockets for anything the Rockets could offer outside of Harden or Howard. He had his best season, was an all-pro, and has become the franchise's face. If you were sitting in the Suns' position and you already hold 3 potential first round picks next year, would you trade him for an first round pick of indeterminate quality? I do not think you would." http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1335990&p=40711786#p40711786
Bahaha... that made me laugh... other than losing the bench, Rockets actually IMO got better with their starting 5 by adding a defensive player who will likely produce the same offensively as Parsons.
Crazy how they don't even understand how their own gm operates. Is dragic a very very good player? Absolutely But having 35 million tied up to a backcourt, that isn't even the best in the league, is crazy. Not saying that houston has the best offer, or that we will get dragic, but you have to acknowledge that the suns should probably trade him if they resign bledsoe.
Most fans overvalue their guys but they take it to another level. They don't understand that they don't have leverage because they have so many point guards.
No fan and no team ever want to let go of a good to great player without getting someone just as good in return. But contracts and circumstances matter in these things and sometimes the best choice, or at least the "least bad" choice in a front office's mind, is a unsatisfying one. The NBA is full of these examples: Did OKC want to let Harden go for a collection of assets if not for their budget limitations? Of course not. Did Orlando want to trade Dwight Howard to the Lakers? Again, no. But Dwight, along with Orlando's own inability to build around him, forced their hand. New Orleans faced this issue with Chris Paul. The Wolves face it now with Kevin Love (and with Garnett years ago). Did Morey want to let Parsons go? No, but missing out on Bosh means that Morey thought it necessary to preserve flexibility going forward. I am sure Dragic is an excellent player and PHX hopes to only trade him for someone just as good or better-- like for Kevin Love. But sometimes the circumstances are such that you don't get what you want.
"That's a trash offer. The Suns roster is built around depth, and the Rockets after trading away Asik and Lin don't have any. After Harden/Howard your roster is very thin and we aren't trading any of our PG's for future picks. Suns have youth, they don't need to get any younger. Now if you want to trade us Dwight Howard and a pick for Dragic and Plumlee that's totally fine since you guys need a PG and Suns need a center/forward with potential and picks." Unbelievable. Do these guys know how the freaking NBA works?
Those guys are letting me have it over there. They are really fired up. Well at least I took one for the team. Now we know from the horses mouth how they feel about Dragic.
