I'm sure he was great in the Euroleague. His lack of size for a big man was never going to hurt him in that league like it will the NBA.

well it has been about 5 or 6 years and a lot can happen in that time frame. it may be wishful thinking but i fully expect to see dorsey standing 7foot tall in training camp

no, we can make judgements and morey confirmed that with these min contract deals. he hasnt even said anything abuot going after an established player. if he would've assured we'd get at least one of thse players then i'd be less hard on morey.

for the record, i like the dorsey signing. when u can find someone who has plenty of overseas and other pro basketball experience, it makes up for the lack of nba experience.

    wingspan vs height* typo

anyway no, unless they prove themselves somehow, im not gonna believe someone with a freakish wingspan can protect the rim as well as a proven 7 footer

So, Chuck Hayes is about that if not less and he played center at times.

how many 6'7-6'8 rim protectors are there in the nba? not many
as i said i belive dorsey can be a serviceable player off the bench, but he wont be a legit backup center.

Lol... the best shot blockers in the league are not 7 footers.

Dwight Howard 6'9, Serge Ibaka 6'9, Anthony Davis 6'9, DeAndre Jordan 6'9.75..... non of these guys are 7 footers, but can protect the paint just fine due to athleticism and length.

    Ben Wallace??????

    4× NBA All-Star (2003–2006)
    3× All-NBA Second Team (2003, 2004, 2006)
    2× All-NBA Third Team (2002, 2005)
    4× NBA Defensive Player of the Year (2002, 2003, 2005, 2006)
    5× NBA All-Defensive First Team (2002–2006)
    NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2007)
    NBA blocks leader (2002)
    2× NBA rebounding champion (2002, 2003)

Dorsey has a standing reach AND wingspan greater than Joakim Noah.

He puts his arms up, bigger than noah, spreads his arms side to side, bigger than noah.

I can't fathom how this is so confusing to some people.

It's basically the essence behind why Dwight Howard has been such a defensive force, hes got incredible length and if you put gogo gadget arms on a shorter more explosive/mobile player, thats what you get.

Chuck Hayes doesnt have the length and is largely glued to the floor, he got by due to the lower body leverage he has.

    "Legit back up center" lol

How many legit back center's are there in the NBA? Honestly, the reality is that most back up center's are PF's masquerading as center's.

lol I was responding to your "im not gonna believe someone with a freakish wingspan can protect the rim as well as a proven 7 footer"!

All those guys have freakish wingspans and none of them are 7 footers, even with shoes.

"im not gonna believe someone with a freakish wingspan can protect the rim as well as a proven 7 footer"!

clearly i was referring to any 6'7 6'8 bigs with a freakish wingspan. are you one of those who cant comprehend what they're reading if its not politically correct?

You do realise in the measurements that are actually important to basketball he is in fact BIGGER than Joakim Noah. You do realise this right....

no i dont realize it cuz i dunno what you're talking about

i'll reiterate what i've been saying but this time i'll be politically correct so you guys can comprehend

There aren't a lot of players who, in shoes, are measured at 6'7 - 6'9, that can protect the rim well enough to be a starter.
