Makes sense, we needed a stretch 4 and he wanted to play for a contender. I wonder if he'll feel the same way next summer... Also, let this show that there definitely are players who want to play with Harden-Howard
Damn that hurts... that would have rectified the Chris Bosh debacle if we could have picked up boozer.
can he be bought out of his contract by the lakers and become a free agent if he refuses to play there? (i'm sure it wont happen, but is it possible?)

Did not, per source. Likely to have gotten him as FA if cleared. Probably would've used the BAE on him if I had to guess. Thank gawd, I could never cheer for that chump on my team.
we'd have to be under the cap to bid on him; thus not worth it. Also, it would probably be cheaper to let him rot on the bench than for the Lakers to buy him out.
well if the lakers buy out his contract because he doesn't want to play there, he could get bought out and then become a FA and sign with whoever he wanted a la D. Fisher correct?
He can't be traded until the following July 1st (2015) according to http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q69
The Lakers would have to agree to do this. If Boozer simply refuses to play because he doesn't want to, then he's in violation of his contract and the NBA can threaten with the ban hammer/suspensions. Billups had previously threatened teams not to claim him off amnesty waivers, and Stern said he was having none of that.
