He never wanted an endorsement, turned them all down. Some folks just cannot get it through their head that some people are not motivated by only money.

You don't think he would be worth any amount as a consultant? If the other players hate this, they must hate lebron, bosh, diva wade just as much if not more.

But I see that the dirkster stayed with his home team.

Lol @ people insulting Dirk and accusing him of being unethical just because he's loyal to his team which stole Parsons away

The league should look into this. I suspect Cuban is offering some backdoor money.

If that's the case he's given up more endorsement money throughout his career than this pay cut

Mr. Max Contract is making almost 2 times as much as Dirk, absolutely ridiculous..

Apparently all the Dallas Sports Radio shows are just slamming the Rockets for offering him the max, I have way too many Dallas friends and it sucks right now.

People here don't understand what Dirk is about, he doesn't give a **** about money. He doesn't spend it on bullsh** like others do and is a humble guy that wants to live a pretty normal life with his family.

Don't compare him to US guys that came from the absolute bottom, had terrible education and spend millions on cars, mansions, bs and their crew.

What's wrong with offering Dirk the max? Don't they think he's worth it?

Wow that's is incredible but it's also pointless. What does he gain? They are still A lower seed in the west and likely face a first round knock out.

The funny part is when rumors that dirk was going to take less came out, Cuban quickly came out and said he would never do that to dirk (from the original 30 mill contract)

I suspect this was all dirk's doing.

I don't know what dirk is all about, but I do think there is something to be said about him having a different mentality and attitude. Wish this was more common.

Dirk obviously has some deal with Cuban post retirement in the FO and stuff. But you know what, that's part of Cuban being loyal to Dirk no matter what and Dirk in return being loyal to Cuban no matter what. In this case Dirk is willing to sacrifice for the team.

Amazing what loyalty nets you: Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, Dirk, and to some extent in previous years even Wade and Bosh. Star players willing to sacrifice for the sake of a winning franchise.

Dirk said multiple times in the past few years, that he doesn't care about the money anymore. By his accounts he made more than he can rationally spend in his lifetime, any more would be just senseless accumulation. He'd rather enjoy life than spend it chasing more $.

I also forgot that he took 16 million less than the max in his last contract (4 million a year) to help out the team. They won the championship during that contract.

And to think other players complain about feeding their families and guys like Kobe still signing 50 million dollar contracts. I understand wanting the most money, but how many generations are you trying to take care of?

I think "loyalty" is only paid attention to players considered elite.

Besides Bosh, those players played on the team they were drafted.

It takes a bit of losing to get those players, and if Yao was healthier, he'd probably be in that group too.

If you believe that then you know less about basketball then you might think.
