YOu would have to way overpay. If Gasol wants money he'll stay in LA, if he wants to win he goes to OKC/ San Antonio. Houston doesn't provide the most money, or the best chance to win.
The trade kicker for Parsons isn't actually 15%. It's ceiling is the absolute max for that player. Since Parsons gets the max anyway, it will only increase by the difference between the max for future years(if the cap goes up) minus Parsons salary of that year(which rises by 4.5% each year). Besides, it really doesn't matter. Parsons will opt out in 2 years and the Rockets can go after Kevin Durant that season. At least he won't mind switching cities and he'd be pretty tight playing with Harden.
1) You call Minnesota. Love is probably headed to Cleveland, but it's worth a call. 2) You call Boston. Rondo is probably on the market. Try to work a 3 team deal with Ryan Anderson and Rondo coming to Houston. 3) YOU DO NOT OVERPAY FOR LUOL DENG, PAU GASOL, OR TREVOR ARIZA.
Sign Gasol, trade Asik for Thomas in a s&t. Beverley/Thomas/Canaan Harden/Daniels/Johnson Parsons/Garcia Gasol/Jones/Covington Howard/Motiejunas
It's evident to me that we're not getting any big names. I say we try to sign a decent PG (Augustin?), get some wing depth, and maybe even let our rook Capela take a backup C role (I think Dwight could teach him a few productive things; plus I just want to see this dude play). I can't really imagine a dream situation anymore...
I'm pissed we gave away assets and got nothing in return!!!! All in the name of chasing BOSH!! DAMN!!
I never want to see Jordan "girlie hair" Jordan running around in a Rockets uniform ever again. Lance who? Don't match Parsons.
Piss off. It's not "kind hilarious," moron. It sucks. We love the Rockets and this was a kick to the junk because it was all plausible and it collapsed before our eyes. You want to make some not-very-witty remark now? My response to you? Die.
Any guesses on how much it would take to get Gasol's attention? In the end I wouldn't be worried about the Spur or Thunder out bidding us, but rather the Lakers.
