Sure, he'd be willing to go there if Minny was offering more money than anyone else by a considerable amount. But again, LA and the Mavericks are said to be interested in offering a sheet to Parsons. Why would Parsons pick Minny over either of those teams if the money is close? And why would Parsons help the Rockets if the Rockets "betray" him by deciding to trade him? Like Bosh he wants to stay. He'll leave if he has to in order to get paid, but if Morey basically tells him "sorry breh, we are going to upgrade you're out!" he has no incentive to get himself shipped to Minnesota when he could get equal money in better situations.
Wouldn't the Rockets offense, ideally, want a PF that leaves the middle of the court open? Where Howard and Harden want to operate? A PF that is back to the basket would clog the lane even more. A good defender, who is able to help defend the post and the perimeter, who has a good outside shot, and is willing to play within the scope of the team's offense, is exactly what our team needs.
At the end of the day, if McHale can't do anything even after acquiring Bosh or any FA, I'll be really disappointed. On paper, the starting 5 would look amazing, but who is vocal to be a leader. Harden seems apathetic. Dwight seems soft. There isn't that winner mentality. Where does it come from?
Kevin Love a top 5 player, LOL. His teams have never even made the playoffs, let alone have a winning record. I agree he is a great player but hardly top 10, let alone top 5.
I don't understand why/how people keep being so upset that we're not Bosh's 1st choice, considering he was like our 4th.
Good point. But CP said he'd go and there was interest from MIN in him particularly so any S&T would have to include Parsons, NOLA pick, plus few young assets (Canaan, TJones, DMo). Players that can be replaced through draft, trade, FA. But getting someone as good as Love, very little to none.
How can anyone who watched the playoff series against Portland say that Dwight seemed soft. He seemed to be the only guy who was consistently producing and was passionately trying to win that series.
Yes, there is a reason that the Rockets are not more involved in the Kevin Love sweepstakes and it isn't just because Anthony and Bosh are free agents. There have even reports that the Rockets do not believe they have the assets to get Love. This idea that Love is a fall back option is really a stretch. The offer to Anthony, Lowry and now Bosh make it VERY clear that the Rockets are exhausting ALL assets to get an elite player and are not terribly picky as long as they elite.
Dwight Howard is not soft. He busted his ass in that playoff series only to watch his team crumble on defense.
If we add Love I would have no clue who are best player is. 3 guys. All about equal. Bosh, Lowry, even Melo... I'd take Dwight or Harden over them.
I keep hearing this "the Rockets owe Parsons" or "how could you betray him by asking him for a S&T". Isn't it the Rockets who let him hit FA early? Could the Rockets have just kept him under contract for less then 1 million for another season? Maybe, just maybe part of letting Parsons hit FA early was him letting the Rockets work their magic as long as they promise to get Parsons 10+ from someone (preferably them). Seems to me Parsons owes the Rockets every bit as much as they do him!!
It is possible for a top 5 player to be on a losing team. Also, the Wolves should have been closer to a 48 win team according to their scoring margin, they were just stupid unlucky in close games.
I put it in quotes for a reason. I don't think it's the Rockets betraying Parsons. My point was that Parsons want to stay. If the Rockets decide they want him gone (to get someone better) that's fine. He then has to figure out what he wants. Why would he help the Rockets in a S&T that sends him to Minnesota when apparently Dallas for example is willing to give him the same type of money? The issue isn't really feeling betrayed so he wants to hurt the Rockets, it's that he isn't going to put himself in a terrible situation like Minnesota when he has better options on the table.
