I know he's a Spur and all, but I do feel badly for the guy. Puts together a good year and could get a real contract and boom.

Must be all that vegemite y'all eat, Voice of A(n)us. Can't be good for connective tissue.

One of the greatest athletes to come out of Australia, after Luc Longley.

Fortunately for Mills he's on the Spurs. The Spurs treat every player on the Roster like family. They're not going to just chuck him to the side or try to exploit the situation.

They'll still give him a solid payday and give him the time and room to recover. And the team is strong enough that they'll still probably put up 55-60+ wins.

If you're going to have an injury, the Spurs is the team where you want to be.

Don't these stories usually come out after free agency? Seems stupid to kill your own value this way.

I'm sure he would have passed a physical with the way he was shooting in the Finals.

He didn't really have a choice. He was slated to play for the Australian national team and part of that was a full physical. There's no way he could skip that without raising a ton of red flags or creating an uproar in Australia.

And considering his fall back option is stay with the reigning NBA Champions playing with future HOF team mates, a HOF Coach and Executive of the Year, I think he'd rather just be up front and honest about the situation and not risk burning bridges in SA.

pity for him, his play and the resurgence of ginobli was a huge part of SAs success

thats a steal, 3 yr 15m would've been market value, but his injury/loyalty may have helped, dude is a firecracker offensively so fun to watch

Man, the Spurs are the best. Taking care of the guy regardless of the injury, and locking in a long-term sixth man for a good price.
